More Miles Redemption Problems
 

As if there weren't enough, but this is really silly and sorry.

DFW or DAL to BHM (Yes, Birmingham, Alabama, burgeoning metropolis and mover/shaker of the business community!)

From October 21st and forward to the end of the year NO StandardPass awards, only the EasyPass at 50k!

What are these people thinking?

And the funniest part about this is that their Reward Travel forecast of city pairs with lots of availability (at http://www.continental.com/onepass/n...00870BA4C6F42) is showing Houston to Birmingham. :-)

The higher your elite status and the closer to your desired fly dates will greatly increase your chanch of getting an award. I was amazed how many reward seats open 7-14 days for USA-Europe. Of course it makes other planning almost impossible.

Did you try looking at award availability separately?? IE

DAL/DFW-IAH and then
IAH-BHM

I have a feeling that the onepass people are blocking out all availability on Dallas-Houston route.

Neither silly nor sorry; your information is wrong. There are literally hundreds of seats in "G" class (for standard rewards) from DFW-IAH-BHM available. I checked about a dozen days at random from October into November. Every day I checked had lots of "G" buckets. I didn't even need to look segment by segment. DFW-BHM pulls up plenty.

CO still requires one if you want a standard award.

Yes. But if that was the problem with the tons of availability offered (as suggested by a previous poster) it's just plane stupid then. The Saturday night stay requirement was always targeted at business travel (i.e. keeping the fare higher) what does that have to do with award travel?

Coair doesn't want onepass members to be able to use miles for business travel, only leisure travel.

Same reason as you state for regular fares.

Hey, I'm never one to defend CO, but you have to understand that that changes the nature of your question.

I mean, you're now no longer asking "how come caviar tastes bad?" Your question has become, "how come the rotten fish tastes bad?" ...Um...because it's rotten fish?

CO is still in the dark ages regarding Saturday night stays on awards. Remember, if you're in the ivory tower in Houston, the customers are the enemy, and they must have rules in place to prevent the enemy from getting away with any value for their One Pass miles.

I mean, sure AA and UA et. al. allow standard rewards without Saturday night stays, but they're so much larger that they do not need to be so protective of their inventory. And sure Southwest et. al. allow awards without Saturday night stays, but they're so much smaller that they do not need to protect their inventory.

(????????? Circular logic = Revenue Management ????????)

Oh! Well, how silly of me. Knew there was a good reason I let my gold go by the wayside....

Note to CO: AA is getting about 50% intl F and J fares from me, and 50% L, N domestically (sometimes Y, but not if I can help it since I pay for it), and I pay for the upgrades on domestic!

Still happy with the choice I made.
