AA Platinum comp to CO

Hi guys! I switched companies this week, from one that books exclusively AA to one that prefers CO.

This morning I was informed that I'll be required to attend training in Phoenix starting Monday morning, traveling CO for the first time in over 5 years. My question is:

IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET A COMP TO ANY ELITE STATUS WITH CO IN TIME FOR MY FLIGHT ON MONDAY?

To my knowledge, I'm not even a member of OnePass, or if I did sign up, it was 10+ years ago, so I don't know if that would hurt or help my case. Either way, thanks in advance for your comments, help and advice.

Randy

It's Friday on a holiday weekend. I can't imagine how that could happen by Monday. Even under best of circumstances, I don;t think it would be possible to comp that quickly. Good luck!

Just an FYI.

AA Platinum is equal to CO Gold

CO Elite Tiers are as follows. They vary from AA.

CO Silver = 25,000 miles = 30 segments
CO Gold = 50,000 miles = 60 segments
CO Platinum = 75,000 miles = 90 segments

It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. CO is very generous with matching comps. They might be able to document your record that you are now Platinum or Gold or whatever.

One caution, if the system is working as it should EUA (electronic upgrade) will have already run for Elite some upgrades, so if it's a popular business route you're flying you may be out of luck for the first segment(s). Don't give up hope, though, as you may still be able to score an upgrade at check-in orthe gate.

I would go online and sign up for OnePass before you call so you will have a number to give them.

Good luck.

Thank you all for the advice. I signed up for OnePass, then called Continental. Very nice rep had me fax in a copy of my lateststatement and a photocopy of my AA Platinum card. (I sent copies of both my Gold and Platinum cards to show I flew my miles)

Hopefully it can get done before Monday. According to the rep, it can take anywhere from 2 hours to 2 weeks, depending on how busy they are. I'll keep you all posted.

Just wanted to say "THANK YOU" again for all your input. Just checked my new OnePass account, and saw that I received comp to OnePass Gold.

Best wishes and thanks to Continental, FlyerTalk and the members of this forum!

Christ,
What's next, comp BF upgrades? No offense. Just wish I could get free domestic upgrades on AA based on my status with CO.

Amazing! Now let us know if you get an upgrade on Monday...

I know how you feel, but at least comps are given out only once.

Sorry to upset everyone. That wasn't my intention.

It seems that the general consensus is that I sought this comp simply to get upgraded. That assumption would be inaccurate. My decision to switch was due to company policy.

- Did I earn the status on CO? NO
- Will I earn it? YES
- Will Continental benefit from my switching? DEFINITELY

With probably tens of thousands of elite travelers on CO, one more probably won't hurt, especially if he's bringing new business to the company.

Sorry again if I upset anyone. I had hoped the CO board would offer a little friendlier welcome. Maybe I'll just stick to the AA forum "where I belong."

Don't feel bad. At CO the carefree GUM attitude is occasionally counterbalanced by EWR sarcasm; no offense intended.

If it makes you feel any better, last year NW wouldn't give me any comp for my CO Plat, so I'm still using the CO account.

As a long time lurker, I can attest that this can be a very friendly and helpful board.

Florida Flyers, as someone else who comped to CO this year, welcome. I think that you will enjoy FC at CO even better than AA.

I found the ground and phone support at CO sub-par but the flight services in first to be good to excellent.

Hope you are upgraded on your flights. Call and be sure that you are on the list as you didn't have status when you were ticketed. CO is okay as long as everything goes okay. The FAs on whole are great. Again good luck on your new airline.
