Amtrak Codeshare

I started an earlier thread, but there were a lot of tangential questions so I'm starting a new one.

Has anyone used the codeshare train service on Amtrak? Has anyone decided to use Amtrak's Acela Express or Metroliner Service instead of flying because of the ability to earn OnePass miles?

I would like to know the answer to this as well. I have a trip to DC in June from the NJ area and was considering the Acela.

I also have an additional question: Do I get Onepass elite status miles and segments for a trip from Philly to DC or only from Newark to DC on Amtrak Acela?

You get elite status miles and segments, but only on the qualify markets and services.

Qualifying Services
--------------------
Acela Express & Metroliner (Acela Regional, Keystone, and other services DO NOT qualify)

Qualifying Markets
------------------
New York Penn to/from Rt. 128, Boston Back Bay and Boston South Station

New York Penn to/from Washington Union Station.

If you didn't see a station mentioned it is not included. That means if your origin or destiantion includes any other stations (including New Carrolton, BWI, Newark, Metropark, New Rochelle, etc..) you won't get Onepass miles.

Thanks for clarifying.

I checked and found that a First class Acela ticket costs $444 RT and that a business class acela ticket costs roughly $300 for a trip between NY Penn station and Washington DC. Not a bad price for a quick train ride.

I rode an Acela train about 2 years ago when they were first introducing them on the NYC-BOS route and it was pretty good. They only had business class seats, so I don't know what difference first class offers.

I did NYC - PHL on Acela Express 1st class 2 weeks ago and was impressed. 69 minutes, great seats, good food (had b'fast and dinner on board)

Is it just me or is this entire thread populated with people with Indian (sounding?) names...?

Acela Express First Class offers at your seat food and beverage service including a selection of alcoholic beverages and desert. The seating in Acela First is 2+1 instead of the 2+2 in coach. In addition, there are restrooms reserved for Acela First customers and the car is behind one of the locomotives ensuring no through traffic.

I took the Acela Express BOS-NYP-BOS on Wednesday and waiting for the miles to post. I did not see on CO web site any remark about Elite qualification segments.

Your miles will post in 4 to 6 weeks until mid May when they should post within 2 weeks.

I'm not certain, but I understand it they are treating applicable (only those which are OnePass eligible) Amtrak service like any other partner that qualifies as Elite (Northwest, Alaska, KLM, etc.) thus both elite qualifying miles and segments should accrue but I'm not certain.
