If either leg of your trip is outside of the "promo period" you will not get the bonus. The reason PRICELINE miles will never count, is that the airline not only records your CLASS OF SERVICE but also your FARE BASIS. When I used PRICELINE (never will again) my FARE BASIS showed "PL" and I could not get any miles. Not only that, but the Priceline ticket I bought for SFO/MIA routed me: SFO/DTW/IAH/ATL/MIA. Took me over 11 hours to get to MIA - - not a "deal" at all. I understand they have a new policy of limiting the routing, but I gave them my business once, and they FOOLED me, and I will not give them opportunity to do it again.

I was rejected from registering for these offers by OPSC Rep.
I was able to register for them over the net, but I wouldn't be surprised if CO culls out those of us who do so. |
I thought this was a commercial free thread...
It is a shame that a small group of posters cannot stop posting their discontent on threads that do not envolve BF. First it was the headset thread... now the bonus thread. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsdown.gif |
Any new bonuses?

Glad to see that Vulcan is back with bonus lists. Have been spending the last couple of months myself in SE Asia taking it easy, mostly. Looks like it was well-timed to coincide with the lull in specials and deals in the U.S.
Would have to agree with SemiElite about Priceline. Just bagged 2 nights at a place in Kansas City in September for $41 total after taxes ($15/night bid plus $5 bonus money offer). That in conjunction with a convoluted-itinerary CO ticket earning 4,700 or so base miles and as many as 14K-16K total. The mileage totals just get too lucrative to use Priceline for airline tickets. And I've used 'em for car rents, but only in situations where I faced $40+ weekday daily rates I couldn't get around with some combination of coupons and specials. And to the earlier question on mixing XF and T segments, I've always gotten miles credited per segment according to the class, so the XFs should draw the bonuses even if the T segments don't |
cigarman;
Since many of us are grateful to Vulcan for "maintaining" the Bonus list earlier this year-- which was a great help to those of us that really wanted to squeeze out every last mile-- couldn't you just overlook one small editorial comment placed in this thread?? Since the BF issue is of paramount import to Vulcan (and many others obviously, but you mention "a small group of posters"-- and in this particular thread, Vulcan's is the only reference to the impending BF upgrade changes,) so you were obviously aiming at him-- couldn't one just endure a little editorial reminder from someone who by all accounts is one of the most valued members of the CO forum of FT?? That would be my inclination and I would imagine I'm not in the minority. |
Continental Promotion 6000 Bonus Miles
To qualify for this mileage bonus offer you must register by Oct 1st 2001. Once you register, here's all you need to do to start earning up to 6000 bonus miles when you fly from Sept 1st to Nov 15 2001: Fly Round Trip Once earn 3000 Bonus Miles Fly Round Trip Twice earn 1500 Bonus Miles Fly Round Trip Thrice earn 1500 Bonus Miles Register at www.continental.com/get6000 with PROMO CODE 16001 |
I'm intrigued by the page that link sends you to.
Also interesting is that bonus 16000 is the same as 16001 |
Well, I just registered for 16001 as well as 16000 in case one works and the other doesn't. The screen afterward said I'm registered (that and three dollars will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks).
I'm sure that delivering a real-time check of eligibility status and saying whether or not the account WILL, in fact, get the bonuses at time of registration is on Continental's programming to-do list. Just as I'm equally sure it isn't anywhere near the top of that list. In the meantime I'm sure they'll be reminded "But your Website said I was registered!" |
Done for all 3.
It will be interesting to see if these post. Then if they post will CO try to debit us over time for them. That of course will be the next set of questions-- http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
I'm still trying to understand who gets these targeted mailings announcing bonuses. Is it unusual that a Silver Elite has never received an invitation to signup for a targeted bonus despite elite status extending over a couple years?

socref:
There does not appear to be any rational to bonus mailings. I can go years without receiving any, yet others report they get them all of the time. I have gotten 2 in the last 2 years total. Given the large numbers of FTers that are told that they are already listed on a bonus when they call to register, I suspect that a lot of us that should be getting bonus mailings, don't receive any. I suspect a glitch somewhre in the system at CO. |

This new mailer SUCKS!! I would like to know how Southwest and other airline customers can reach silver with 2 new flights and gold with 5 flights. I think Continental has forgotten who got them where they are today. The loyal customers. There has to be some sort of action. I have been calling everyone about this. I have flown 49 legs this year. Why should I have to fly 60 to reach gold when any Tom, Dick or Harry can get it for 5 RTs?
