complaining online?

I'm writing a magazine story on the value of complaining online - has anyone out there used an airline web site to register a complaint? If so, what was the result? Or have you tried the US Dept of Transportation site and has that been any help. The article is for Expedia Travels magazine (a Ziff-Davis pub, not the same as the Expedia site).
PS: About 2 years ago I posted to this board and started a conversation with Rudi Martel that led to the following story about how Rudi uses his FF miles: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/articl...TRAVEL4298.dtl

Anyone who wants to contact me directly and/or anonymously can write to:
[email protected] - thanks all, -Michael

I have once complained to Continental and got what I'd call an inadequite response. I was told that someone would get back to me right away, but I heard nothing for two months. I then called by phone and was given an address to register a complaint, which was later resolved to my complete satisfaction.
