Code on Boarding Pass - Are They Grading Us?

Got a boarding pass for my E Ticket this morning, and I noticed on the main portion (the part they keep) that just below where it said "Platinum" were 2 intitials. These were BO. Haven't noticed them before. Anybody know what they are?

Had you just come off of a red-eye? Were you sweating from running to make the flight? It's actually a secret part of the EUA to break ties based on whichever passenger smells better. If you didn't get upgraded, try showering and checking in later.

[Just kidding - please don't take it personally]

Turns out the "B" is for baggage, and the O was a zero, indicating none checked. Evidently, this is part of the "make your own tag" system. Even though you can now print your own bag tags at some airports, they want to have some record of what you have done in that regard. Forgive the paranoia.

I asked the gate agent about the "B0" on my boarding pass last night, got the same answer.

Pity - but just imagine the inevitable people thinking that "B1" or "B2" was their seat number...
