Upgrades
Okay before you think this is all about the EUA process.. its soo not...
I booked my friend EWR-TPA 1/7 - 1/9 and wanted to upgrade him with my miles, I was told this is fine because I am the elite and I can upgrade fare... Was told this by two people. Now it comes that I've booked the ticket on co.com and call back, but the person now tells me its not possible since the ticket traveler is not an elite... GRRR! Whats the "offical" line and what should I do? -Vincent |

If at first.......................
It's the same drill, if the first agent gives the wrong answer, call back

After having this same problem, I was told by an agent, "if it happens again, tell the agent to look up line #51 in the OnePass rules". This specifically spells out that elites can use their miles to upgrade non-elites on any purchased fare class (domestically, of course). Although, that was in 2003, so I guess it could be on another line by now.

Quick...
You might want to edit the title to be more explicit before FCTSTY gets ahold of you.

Since EWR-POP qualifies for EUA I assume this rule applies to that route as well, eh? |
See my last post? Now hear me yell ARGH!!!!
We're scheduled to go EWR-POP tomorrow. My wife (silver) and I (gold) have both been upgraded. From what I can tell, we will have no problem whatsoever upgrading one of our children as my companion. So, I tried to use miles to upgrade the other child. The flight shows this availability: C9 D9 Z9 Y9 H9 K9 N9 B9 V9 U9 Q9 I9 S9 W9 |
It ain't called NonePass® for nuthin.
Can't use your "valuable" NonePass® miles to upgrade your dear child on an empty flight???

FWIW -- I've never had a problem using my (elite) miles to upgrade a non-elite traveler on a cheap fare class.

All I wanted to do was burn some miles to alleviate "upgrade anxiety" Now I'm resigned to use my remaining miles for Amtrak "Land Cruises" :p
