Sequence Number versus Check-In Position
I checked in at a kiosk yesterday to discover my boarding pass was stamped with sequence number 170.
Surprising... as this is an MD-80 flight from TPA-IAH.
MD-80s hold 141 passengers, right?
The flight was not overbooked, so where'd the 170 come from?
I though the SEQ number was my check-in position number?

Direct Flight
It could be a "direct flight" continuing to another destination, with the same flight number. It's happened to me quite a few times. I've been the 70th passenger to check in on a Jungle Jet.
