CO's BF experience for some may be the best business class experience in the world, but if I don't have direct aisle access, it isn't First Class.

...and that's why those (somewhat) new biz products that all have aisle access (NH, LX, SQ, CX, etc.) are really only the true "hybrid" products out there ;)

Well, a number of other airlines have full lie-flat J with direct aisle access (at least on some of their planes):

1. DL (764's & 777's)
2. AC (most 767's & 777's)
3. US (A-332's)
4. Jet Airways (most A-332's & 777's)

1. First Class
2. BusinessFirst
3. Business
4. Economy Plus
5. Economy

The question becomes what UACO calls the premium cabin on a 2-class intl. flight. Is it "First Class" or "Business?" All harder when there are 3-class on same route, so people get confused between First Class and BusinessFirst.

This is what it looks like will happen:

On Three Class International Planes it will be:

United Global FirstSM
United BusinessFirst®
United Economy® (with Economy Plus where applicable)

On Two Class International Planes it will be:
United BusinessFirst®
United Economy® (with Economy Plus where applicable)

On Domestic Two Class Planes it will be:
United First®
United Economy® (with Economy Plus where applicable)

I think on routes like the caribbean/canada where they use two class domestic planes they will just call the front cabin United Business® instead of First.

Where did you get this information? Why do you say they will call it Global First?

True - I didn't account for the older herringbone style cabins. I guess the difference is that those are still more of a seat (with minimal storage), whereas the new staggered seats (or modified herringbone like US Envoy) are more suite-like, like traditional F products.

Wow - a big :td: if this is really the new naming system. I'm sure there won't be any confusion between Global First and BusinessFirst . I guess COdbaUA is just that protective of the BF brand name. Why not call it BusinessPremier since they love tacking "Premier" on to every single status level & airline experience?

Also another big :td::td::td: coming if my sources are correct...you know the arrivals facilities that BusinessFirst enjoy? Only Global First and FULL FARE BusinessFirst are going to get access...big devaluation if that is true...

Isn't this what UA already does?

Probably...but wasn't what PMCO used to do...anyone in BusinessFirst got arrivals lounge/facilities access...so a devaluation for the PMCO BF crowd...

Yeah, I knew that it wasn't a CO thing. This just supports that both sides of the house get negitives and positives.

According to PMUA rules and my experiences, paid/award int'l F/C get access to arrivals. Upgrades to C do not (though I have seen that rule bent on more than one occasion, just not for me.)

You can't have a pedestrian brand for your F cabin when you puff up the C cabin, can you? ;)

A 757 is not a widebody, which I used to fly to AMS on UA with a fully Flat bed in Business.
I think that old saying that you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig fits here.
Those routes should be widebody with big tanks of fuel, I need to route through ORD to make that happen.
YMMV

Ha ha...

I certainly agree that flying a wide body TATL is (generally) more pleasant than a single-aisle, but then again there are some very nice single-aisle J experiences across the pond, including BA's LCY-JFK and OpenSkies.

But that issue concerns the choice of aircraft (which is really a whole other can of worms), not really the quality of CO's J, which is really quite good (and certainly comparable to UA's J).

After all, PMCO is hardly alone in running 757's TATL (AA, BA, DL, FI, and US do it). And while PMUA may not have done it, let's not forget their "Premium Service" Transcon is on a sub-fleet of 757's...

Too many "Firsts" is indeed confusing.

How about this?

Let's brand everything "business" instead of first.

How about:

1. International F:
Total Business Select (or Total BS ®)

2. International J:
Business Select (or plain ole BS ®)

3. Economy:
Coach Redefined As Premium (or CR*P ®)

4. Economy Plus
CR*P Plus ®

:eek::D

Can you just imagine the marketing potential?

United's International Premium Travel Experience...it's Total BS!

Thanks for that. Just went to preview.continental.com and it redirected me to the regular Continental site. Then I went to preview.united.com and it went, but logging in to MP redirected me elsewhere, and my browser doesn't want me to go there. Was there a post recently about the preview site going up again?
