MileagePlus 2012 Clarifications

Has anyone read the following in the One Pass Member Advisory and what exactly is the Mileage Plus 18 month expiration policy?

Mileage Expiration
Miles currently have no expiry date; however, Continental Airlines reserves the right to impose expiry limits or terminate the OnePass program, thus terminating your ability to claim rewards. The OnePass program will formally end on December 31, 2011, followed by a wind-down period during the first quarter of 2012. Following the wind-down period, your OnePass award miles will be replaced with an equivalent grant of Mileage Plus reward miles. At that point, the Mileage Plus 18-month expiration policy will apply.

See the MileagePlus 2012 thread. All the new rules are explained there.

18 months with 0 activity and your miles go poof, gone.

How do you define activity?

Does using the Continental Credit Card count as activity or do you have to fly?

Anything that put in or removes even 1 mile from your account is activity. So yes, CC activity counts. There may be one or two little caveats to it but that is basically it.

Premier qualifying miles

Under the new Mileage Plus program will the 150% bonus for purchasing a first class ticket still be counted as Elite Qualifying Miles (now Premier Qualifying Miles) or will they just be credited as bonus miles?

Full details on earnings are here. You might be rather pleasantly surprised if you are paying for F fares.
