Are we reading the same forum?
My understanding from sfogate posted is for domestic overnight WX missconnect you will get only discount rate at the hotel but will have to pay for it yourself.

free or pay for it myself, if I had a late flight that was CXed due to WX I would assume Im sleeping in the Term since all the Rooms would have already been spoken for by those on the flights before mine

a much better chance if its a MX of actually ending up with a room, since only your flight is involved
