Shady

So I got my one year benefits yesterday for the CO Chase card. Got the 2 presidents clubs but also got some good looking coupons.

$25 off round trip tix of $175-$275, $50 off round trip $275-$399, $100 off round trip over $100.

Was really excited as I thought this was great until I read the real fine print at the bottom where it says... Maximum discount of $20 for travel to.from IAH, EWR and CLE. What a joke.

Those "coupons" have always been that way - which is why you can normally find 100's for pennies on ebay.

Well...and of course, the discounts are only good on certain fare classes...they can't be applied to cheap tickets...

With the exception of airline club passes, almost all certs from branded cc's suck...just a way to get the uninformed public to think that they are getting a deal....

I'll take them off your hands! You can have my drink coupons that they send me even though they won't serve alcohol in-flight cuz I'm underage

That is why I am sticking with my AS Signature card... Can't beat the $99 companion discount voucher that we get every year and to add the pain to the Chase card, the annual fee is lower... We also get 1,000 booking bonuses for every ticket purchased thru Alaskaair.com on top of the 3X miles per $1 spent... And we book two one ways to get 2K bonus miles per round trip ;)

The CO Onepass Plus card sucks, and please stop sending me mail trying to convince me to apply for the card... We get four of them every month and it is really annoying...

The AS card sounds like a good deal

Meanwhile I have the CO card and still get mail from CO telling me to apply for the card.

The problem with most of the K fares is that they are offered on UA metal (at least in markets I have checked/fly regularly), which makes them ineligible for coupon use. :td:

With these coupons, it's invariably cheaper to buy the lower fare outright than buy the eligible fare and apply the coupon.

The Chase coupons are absolutely worthless. After years of trying to use them I now just throw them away.

... unless, of course, the cheaper fare buckets are sold out on the flights you want.

...which never (fine: almost never) happens at 2+ weeks out on tickets not on a Friday or Sunday. :td:
