Secret Compartment on 772 ?
 

Flying back from HKG Saturday in 32L, I noticed crew coming and going from a center aisle compartment between rows 27 and 31. It has a stairway that goes above the luggage bins.

Am guessing that this is a crew rest area in the attic - does anyone have any details of what this looks like?

Is it a nice plush lounge with feather duvets?

You flew a 773 on CO?

And they exist on the 777s, 744s, and supposed to on 787s.

Sorry, Overhead Crew Rest Areas only on CO's 772s. Coach seats are reserved for crew rest on other long-haul flights over 8 hours.

Video is a little dizzying and unclear, but it shows crew rests on a plane that is NOT CO (it's LH) NOR is it a 772 (it's a 744).

He meant that, ON CONTINENTAL, they can only be found on 772 aircraft, not 767s.

They clearly can't be in seats "just like the rest of us," because if it's a sold out flight, there are no "seats, just like the rest of us." There are the jumpseats and those crew seats they use for takeoff and landing, but those aren't "just like the rest of us."

A couple of seats are not in inventory for the flight and not assignable. There are usually placards on the seat(s) and/or curtains around them to that effect.

Actually they are, just like the rest of us. If crew rest is required based on the segment length, that number of seats will be blocked out from inventory.

It's for this reason that 21DEF on the 752 are never available for selection until approx. 2 days before a flight.

On some of the 77s of our new partner, they have six special crew rest seats at the fron of E+ -- but even E+ isn't good enough for the crew, so theirs have extra legroom and footrests.

Don't even glance longingly!

At SMD2 - we were able to go into the forward crew rest area on the B787. On this one the stair is located in the forward galley. It had 1 or 2 chairs and 2 beds up there - it was very cool to see.
