New Devlopment with United

So I purchased some tickets on united today and then called to get seating assignment in economy plus. After doing this I look at my reservation on united.com and it has under flight: confirmed, upgrade: pending. I know this was not there prior to talking to the agent, is this the new way of doing the upgrades? I searched on the united.com site and it sounds like this is the same status that would be showing for their elites on upgrades, can anybody confirm?

Yes, that is exactly what united.com would show for UA elites. You are now in the queue for an UDU (unlimited domestic upgrade) that all UA elites are eligible for. Check the United MP forum and you can get the details of when your upgrade should clear.

Take care,
Bob

I guess they have started UDU for continental elites then

Nope...flew this evening on UA and it didn't happen until I presented myself to the UAL GA at IAD...

Hmm I wonder why it shows upgrade pending on my reservation then?

I purchased a mixed airline itinerary (CO/UA) via expedia. I selected my CO seats online, just checked on my UA leg and looks like I'm already in E+ automatically. Didn't have to call anyone. It's a short leg LAS-SFO, will see what happens with UDU. Trip is in 2 weeks.

sign onto ual.com and pull up your record. you will know if you are on the list if it says pending. if you don't have a ual account, you should be able to get the ua record locator from your expedia receipt.

Nope just says confirmed. Nothing about pending upgrade. Would it say pending 2 weeks out?

If you purchased your ticket away from .bomb, you need to call and request your upgrade under the UDU system. Only then will your upgrade status show as pending.

I am flying MKE-ORD-LGA 10/18, bought ticket on CO and plugged ticket number in UAL.

After getting UAL PNR called United and got E+ seats and my reservation immediately said upgrade pending.

Not sure if I am in queue behind GS/1K/Prem exec or need to wait for gate agent. I would think ORD-LGA on a Monday am would be a difficult upgrade for a 1K.

Here is the UA upgrade terminology:

Upgrade: Pending = you're outside your window looking to upgrade.

Upgrade: Waitlisted = you're inside your window but have not yet cleared and are on the Waitlist.

Upgrade: Confirmed = your upgrade is confirmed.

UA does not have any sort of EUA sweep mechanism. You either get it when you're within your window, or you get placed on a waitlist. As soon as a seat opens up, the system upgrades the first person on the waitlist.

Did it ever flip from Upgrade: Pending to Upgrade: Waitlisted?

Sounds like they may be still working on it -- adding the CO Elites to pending, but not yet defining when their window opens to add them to the waitlist.

Just checked my UA PNR for my trip in 2 weeks...says nothing yet I figure a call to the ICC might be in order and .bomb still wants $89 for E+.

My reservations still says "pending". When does it usually change to "Waitlisted" for an UA elite?
