E+ for CO elites is live!

It is still September... Yet E+ is available to you before the day of departure.^

I discovered this, because the E+ seats in my reservation on co.com was no longer grayed out.
You might have to call UA... but you can do it today.

See the full story here.

It'll all be called United in a few h:(urs...

usa18dca Sep 30, 2010 6:09 pm

Still charges me $ for E+

sdm1130 Sep 30, 2010 6:09 pm

Did you check UA.com (using ticket #) to see that the seats selected on CO.com stuck? It was possible to "select" them earlier today, but the selections were not being transmitted to UA.

ETA: I just checked my reservations with UA flights (booked on CO.com) and the above is still true. Looks like we'll need to wait a few more hours...

Changing the seat on co.com may not stick... (as many have confirmed).

The resolution is to CALL UA: 1-800-538-2929

To get the UA confirmation code....
  1. get it by calling CO. (You may also be able to retrieve it using the e-ticket number on ua.com. Used to work, but did not work for me a minute ago).
  2. On ua.com you will be able to confirm that you have secured E+.

You might have to wait longer than a few hours.... because who knows if E+ will stick on co.com tomorrow.

I called UA... and I have checked my reservation on ua.com... and E+ is indeed confirmed.

Better call ua today... My wait time was less than a minute... and imagine the wait time might be tomorrow if E+ does not stick on co.com.

AntonS Sep 30, 2010 7:21 pm

United.com still wants to sell me Economy Plus, but a quick call to reservations and got me in E+ on all active bookings.

usa18dca Sep 30, 2010 7:45 pm

I'm calling to see...

^ UA Rep said they couldn't do E+ or Upgrades yet...and that we'll have to wait till it's officially October 1st and the system update will take some time...

1k-all-the-way Sep 30, 2010 8:20 pm

Too bad Co isn't doing much back for us UA elites. I get to go on an upgrade list 2 hours before a flight even with a B fare and 1k status. And an exit row seat seems beyond the reach of a UA flyer. I keep hearing about how much better Co is - so far - still waiting to discover for myself.

Some UA Elites have reported getting upgrades in advance 1-5 days before flight time, so I wouldn't say CO isn't doing much but more than what UA is doing for CO anyways...

+1. The automated phone rep actually offered the option of "request an e+" but it's the real agent that does the job. Very nice!:D

I just called and was told after a 15 minute hold that they could not do E+ TIL TOmorrow the rep spoke with a very hard to understand
accent also

quantumslip Sep 30, 2010 8:47 pm

I see open seats for my codeshare (CO number, UA flight) in E+, but as usual the seat selections don't stick. I'll call them tomorrow to get the seats...

entropy Sep 30, 2010 9:24 pm

I wonder when UA elites will get E+ on continental operated flights..

quantumslip Sep 30, 2010 9:34 pm

yea, decided to try anyways, said i had to do it at the airport, and for the other people he tried to sell me a upgrade package! i guess i'm going to wait for the dust to settle for more official policies...

I just checked my UA EWR-DEN-EWR itinerary for the end of October - UA.com still wants $49 each way to move into E+. Will check again tomorrow.

Maybe that is you, as I had booked CO flights two weeks ago, initially exit row wasn't available, but after I purchase, close the browser, re-enter my PNR #, the exit rows show all up include my UA MP #, and I am only a 1P.

There are others report in the UA board using the same method in order to get exit row seats on CO.

reinballe Sep 30, 2010 10:23 pm

E+ success rate appears to be about 50-50, or perhaps a little worse than that.

The successful ones:

My reservation was booked on co.com and I could select E+ seats on co.com, but they would not stick.
That is what I told the UA rep, and she immediately put me in E+. No problem.

I saw the same thing when I checked my reservation on line (purchased on UA.COM with my OnePass number).

Then I called United 3P number - they could see my reservation with OnePass number but declined my E+ seating request - after chacking some dosuments, I was told that Day One is October 1st, so they can't do it until tomorrow.

I'm not putting too much expectation on UA.COM - I'll call again.

To the contrary, since at least the beginning of this week, UA elites have had access to preferred seating on CO and GSes, 1Ks, and 1Ps have had access to exit rows. Furthermore, CO quietly incorporated us Mileage Plus elites into its EUA system. I was able to assign myself exit row seats on two flights this week, got EUAed on my one mainline segment 48 hours out, and after changing to an earlier flight on the day of departure and checking in, was automatically added to the upgrade waitlist, with my upgrade clearing 30 minutes before departure.

I'm very, very happy that reciprocity is finally upon us.

From my experience, when shopping for CO flights on continental.com, UA elites should be aware that they will not be able to view and select available premium economy class seating until both their Mileage Plus number is added to the reservation and any purchase is ticketed (which usually takes about five minutes after the purchase is complete).

Of course, these issues for us UA elites would probably be better discussed in the thread in the UA forum, leaving this thread to the OnePass folks to discuss their experiences with travel on UA metal.

To all the OnePass elites sampling E+ for the first time, welcome aboard. I'm sure you'll like it a lot better than the 31" pitch that may be familiar to you when you don't get the upgrade, the bulkhead, or the exit row seat. Here's to hoping the new United keeps E+ and adds it to the (former) CO fleet. A first class section on the CO Express jets, much like what UA features on a number of its affiliates' regional jets would be nice too, wouldn't it?

usa18dca Sep 30, 2010 11:49 pm

It's now officially LIVE thanks to Heathrow Guy for being on the ball.

RustingInSeattle Oct 1, 2010 2:56 am

I'm continental platinum - it's nearly 2 am pacific, 4 am central and no love for me with E+... they still want to charge me $19 or $49 per segment. :)

Hartmann Oct 1, 2010 5:20 am

It appears that you can no longer select seats on UA reservations through CO.com. The "View/Change Seats" link is gone and there is an asterisk where the seat assignments are.

The asterisk lists your UA confirmation number and the UA phone #

 I dead for me on both of my upcoming UA tickets.

How does one resurrect this feature?

Hartmann Oct 1, 2010 7:30 am

UA itineraries that are CO codeshares and booked through CO.com now show on united.com with confirmation numbers as well. ^

MSPpete Oct 1, 2010 8:10 am

Have a TPAC first/saver award itin starting 3/2/11. Called UA this morning to get at least E+ for the only coach leg of the trip (MSP>ORD). Was told to call CO and they would call UA and get me the seat. Did that, they did it. Have E+ now. Thx "the new united"

AustinBear Oct 1, 2010 8:20 am

I tried this morning (8:35a CT) and could not. I then called and was told I had to buy it. After insisting he was wrong, politely, I got an economy plus seat. When I checked-in, I was able to choose any e+ seat.

But, it did not upgrade me to first. Instead the site tried to sell me an upgrade. I thought it was all being activated today?

So, I called again, CS referred me to web support who told me I still had to make the request at the airport. So, I asked for the Elite desk number and called there. After about 10 more minutes with them, they said the same thing - ask at the airport.

So, it looks like they'll still be selling them to non-elites before offering them to CO elites until mid-October (at least that's what the UA elite desk told me).
