Changing same day connection to overnight connection?
I have a flight MEM-EWR-ORF scheduled for Tuesday, however the customer I'm going to visit in ORF no longer need me there wednesday morning. So i want to spend a night in NYC and see the city kind of thing (i rarely make it to NYC)...
Was wondering, has anyone had any luck with changing a leg to be the next day...
for example i'd like to move MEM-EWR to earlier in the day tuesday, and instead of connecting to an afternoon EWR-ORF flight catch a flight the next morning (wednesday) for that leg?
Is this going to be a cancel/re-book... or can continental make this a "change"...
Thanks for your thoughts?

The fare construction rules may limit the connection layover to a maximum of 4 hours except in the case of the last flight in connecting with the first flight out the next day.

I thought I would post a note here because I just went through this.
I was able to just do a same-day change which put me on the 2nd last flight of the day (the last being the redeye) and then out to my final destination on the first flight in the morning, but it seemed like CO Elite desk was willing to let me take any flight I wanted tomorrow.
This definitely has to be done on the phone, the options will not come up online even if you use multiple destinations.
