Copa
What have peoples experiences been w/ Copa? How are the planes...F + C. Also what are the upgrade chances on JFK -> Panama vs EWR -> Panama on CO? Finally, is it true CO elites get upgrades from Panama to SA?

The planes are pretty much identical to CO planes. Same cabin config and seats. Even the logo on the tail is similar. Meal service up front is similar to CO transcon service but only two choices. There is an ice cream sundae for dessert on lunch/dinner flights.
Yes, you can get upgraded on every Copa flight, including those to deep South America. It is a much different product than the CO 76s that go down that way, but the EUAs are there.
Upgrade chances are, well, chances. I've been rather successful historically but I've also done well on CO from PTY to/from IAH.

COPA is great! It's sometimes strange to be flying them, though. It's almost like being on CO ... it seems very familiar but then you realize that it's subtly different. That results in some Twilight Zone m
ments. I've had great luck with EUA both ways between JFK and PTY.

Copa aircraft are nearly identical to CO mainline.
The crews are professional, and tend to be more friendly than CO's.
You can get free elite upgrades on 100% of CM's flights, they only fly aircraft with CO domestic F product. while its better than Y to deep SA, the seat obviously is not remotely comparable to BF.

We have flown COPA a few times - LAX-PTY-EZE.
I have to say I disagree. Even in F the flight attendants on LAX-PTY were pretty snobby
Also, flying a 737 for 7 hours with an hour on the ground, only to go to another 737 for 7 hours - the flights are nothing special
A lot of wasted OnePass miles to travel that far without a lot of amenities.
LAX-IAH-EZE is a MUCH better routing and the CO flight attendants are much friendlier and more attentive than on COPY

But the price point on revenue tickets in the forward cabin is often quite a bit lower than what CO charges for BF. You're not getting the BF product or service, but you're also not paying BF prices.
