I agree. To my eye, the more modern font complements the swirling lines of the globe on the tail nicely. The current Continental font is okay, but I actually like this one better.

And entered the CO cheerleaders: "Rah. Rah. We're the best" :D

Seems about right to me. Unfortunately, the historic tendencies in these mergers is to go with the lowest common denominator. Thus, much like keeping the name of the lesser airline, they will probably keep a number of features of UA. Tis a pity.

I don't mind the font; it's the ALL CAPS I can't stand. :td: All caps is juvenile and churlish. Bad form, Jeff Baby, you giant ferret.

RNE: Juvenile, ah yes, but sophisticated! Ahhh yeees! ^

Rne, I AGREE.
I disLIKE all CAPS.

I'm glad they kept the globe on the tail. I think its the most sophisticated tail of any plane flying. But it is 'eye of the beholder', no?

In any case, I agree that the U N I T E D looks like they had one of their res agents come up with that during a smoke break. C'mon, guys: you can do WAY better than that.

Ha! I've always wondered how to refer to these logos, and your description is spot-on.

PS - I won't miss the country club script!

CO hasn't updated much style- or branding-wise in what, 20 years? Yeah, it's time for the country club script to go as well.

CO is good at keeping things consistent, and they're better on executing on these sorts of things than most companies. But doing so with an outdated brand was really the wrong move. The new livery is much better.

The globe can be adapted over time. If they took it out of that box, it would be a lot more versatile.

And there are still people on this board who claim to have never experienced any sort of "Rah! Rah! We're the best!" attitude. Just mention any other airline, it's not difficult to elicit this type of attitude. ;)

Darn, beat me to it! A 1K agent could probably blow the socks off that agent.

I'm fearful of what this "Rah! Rah!" CO arrogance will do in the merger. If they really are going to try to blend things and change things for the better, it's going to be difficult to train the legacy CO folks if they think everything they're presently doing is better.

I already had seen some bitterness during the Star Alliance transition. I had one agent tell me last year that it was frustrating to have to go through *A customer service training when they already provide better CS than US or UA.

Oh no, the new United name looks even worse than the previous one

That's going to be nothing compared to the merger of the UA and CO FT forums. :D

^^ I LIKE IT..Very clear and almost commands respect..It looks great to me! :)

The new logo is the word U N I T E D followed by the CO globe logo in blue and white only. This appears to replace the logo shown during the merger announcement which had:

United
Airlines LOGO

It now is:

U N I T E D LOGO

Although I think adding the blue/white square globe logo after UNITED might look better by making it longer on the fuselage.

I have a feeling this is going to stick. But the way I see it, CO would like to keep the rebranding costs low, this change requires a simple paint job.

What CO should really do is update the logo, branding and overall look for the 21 st century, very much like what Delta did. That will of course, cost a lot more.

The Font is UGLY and all caps makes it even worse.:td:
