EUA Standby List

Tried a search and only found information about mileage upgrades...

Anyway, flying on 1528 tomorrow to SJO. Seats: 16/Booked: 5. I've checked in but I don't show on the upgrade standby list (no one does). I called the elite line, and she said she didn't know what I was looking at, but I'm on the list and I look good for the upgrade. Does this sound right, or was I rushed off the phone?

I'm new to CO Elite, so I want to make sure I understand correctly.

Thanks,

RJ

Based on the 5/16, yes it does look good. You should be on the list however. Are you connecting from another carrier?

No; I'm connecting from CO463 out of ORD.

Maybe because it's not T-24 yet for that flight (CO 1528)?

That shouldn't matter, he is checked in for the flight. It appears the OP is upgraded on his ORD-IAH flight, and not appearing on the standby for IAH-SJO. Looks like a glitch? I'd be sure to ask again at the gate in ORD tomorrow to ensure you're on the list.

It appears that there are very few, if any, elites waiting to upgrade based on the exit row seats occupied. There's nothing the phone agents can do, so checking in at ORD should hopefully clear it up.

There is no EUA standby list. EUA runs independently of the airport upgrade list.

If you don't get your upgrade by the time you get to ORD, ask the ORD agents to add you to the list manually. Then verify that you're on the list. If you get any pushback, insist on it. You are not on the airport upgrade list until you can see it, no matter what they may say.

As others have pointed out, this is an airport function, so there's nothing anyone on the phone at CO can do about it.

Thanks everyone.

I have been upgraded on the ORD to IAH flight, that came through last night. I was expecting the IAH to SJO to come through early as well (due to low booking) but I understand revenue management has its own plan.

Anyway, on hold with .com support to see what is going on.

Nothing they can do, really. Get on the airport upgrade list at the airport. It won't be processed til the gate anyway.

You're still eligible for EUA, and EUA runs independently of that.

I flew to LIR in Costa Rica weekend before last and there was a very low load of elites coming from IAH. Some people on FT told me that these central american routes are not elite heavy at all, especially if you don't fly on a Fri/Sun.

That being said, the flight loads are high and the buyups are cheap. My friend was traveling with me on the $239 CO.com special (N bucket) and was offered buyups of $69 both directions. I was upgraded at T-30 and T-28 as a silver on those flights, and only 5 people were upgraded before buyups that I saw.

I think you should be fine :)

Do you think the OP looked at only the 'right-hand side' and missed his/her name on the left? Maybe they were upgraded at OLCI?

Could be...I think that close to flight time (how close is close?) upgrades are processed more dynamically than previously.

ETA: Looks like the 24-hour EUA may have run between now and then as well.

+1

The 24-hour EUA theory is the most likely.

If he had the upgrade already, he would have noticed it. And if he missed it, the CO rep(s) handling his call(s) would have seen it and mentioned it.

At least the lack of being on the airport upgrade list was a non-issue here.
