Blackberry App for Continental
While pda.continental.com is handy (note to Continental, it should be m.continental.com), I've always found it a bit clunky and primitive. I've been considering pursuing the development of an app specifically for Blackberry users that would be more comprehensive and user friendly. I have a few friends that work for Continental and none are aware of such an application being worked internally.
I'm looking for feedback from people on specific functionality that they'd like to see. I'm specifically targeting this at Blackberry users, not at the iPhone, as I feel that it's a much better audience. |
Welcome to FT!
I think this would be a great idea. However, since my employer prevents us from installing apps on company BBs, my desires for an app don't matter. |
A BB specific app would be great, and probably well recived. However I dont have any problems using the pda.continental.com site on my Storm2 and I and it is by far the best mobile site that I have used.

IMHO, pda.co.com (or what ever the address is )
pales to AA's mobile site, which lets you do more online. I think this would be really successful, if paired with mobile boarding passes. I personally would love to see a Blackberrry App |
If you made the app with a framework like PhoneGap or Rhodes the app could work for several different devices.

Welcome to FlyerTalk!
What functionality do you think it is missing? I actually think that the mobile site is pretty solid and handles the vast majority of my needs, certainly much more than would be likely supported by a 3rd party application without access to CO's back-end systems. |

Also (and posting in the co.com thread) - the site is difficult to use on my new 9700. Site appears with minuscule font size even in column view. Have to zoom to see anything. |

Actually, a few things come to mind - mostly, the ability to make a new reservation, or modify an existing one, including seat selection and upgrade a Y/B/M prior to checkin.
I'm not saying that there aren't things that could be better, just that someone on the outside looking in has very few hooks into the CO systems and won't really be able to do all that much programaticly. |
I'd be a user. It's always nicer to have an app than having to go through the browser proper.

As an iPhone user, I can say that it would be nice to be able to have boarding pass barcode, flight status, upgrade/standby lists, and seat maps all in a single interface without having to juggle pages. It would also be nice for the BP barcode to load at the ideal size for the TSA/CO bar code scanners; that's hard to do when you have to design a webpage for multiple browsers, but easier when you're working with an app. (Hell, if WN can do it...)

You can do most of this at https://www.continental.com/web/en-U...aspx?Mobile=1&
Thanks for offering this perfect example of why CO needs a Blackberry application. ^ |
