What a coincidence - I was going to start this thread the other day. I have the AC Blackberry app on my phone and it's cool - I just like the convenience of one button on my main screen to get into the AC site. With CO, I have to go to browser, etc, etc. And it doesn't have to be a 3rd party thing - CO can do it themselves. They tend to be trailblazers in this kind of stuff.
I think CO could add some functionality to the PDA site, but I still prefer that site to a stand-alone app. The problem with an app is they have to support it across multiple platforms — if CO launched is on BlackBerry, then the iPhone and Android and Web OS users would all be wanting it too — whereas the PDA site works across all mobile device operating systems. The PDA site is pretty good too. It's very rare I need it to do something it doesn't already do. |

And which of those would a 3rd party tool be able to accomplish?
I'm not saying that there aren't things that could be better, just that someone on the outside looking in has very few hooks into the CO systems and won't really be able to do all that much programaticly.

That's sausage vomit. Grinding down a (data heavy) Web page into a narrow screen results in gangly, grotesque garbage. To be effective, the mobile Web needs dedicated executions particularly with judicious use of links rather than verbose expanses of text that go on seemingly forever on a PDA screen! CO fails. :td:
Thanks for offering this perfect example of why CO needs a Blackberry application. ^ Also, the "mobile" site does NOT support seat selection. What is nice is to be able to keep checking for that exit row :) |
Count me in as someone who would love a CO App for Blackberry.

You could just bookmark the CO site. Unfortunately with BlackBerry's OS you can't put a web page bookmark on your phone's desktop, though. .
For a CO PDA BB short cut go Here Use BB desktop to install * the fine print- Works with my 8310, not tested on other models. Not CO sponsored but mighty darn handy |

As an iPhone user, I can say that it would be nice to be able to have boarding pass barcode, flight status, upgrade/standby lists, and seat maps all in a single interface without having to juggle pages. It would also be nice for the BP barcode to load at the ideal size for the TSA/CO bar code scanners; that's hard to do when you have to design a webpage for multiple browsers, but easier when you're working with an app. (Hell, if WN can do it...)

Perfect! I'll have to stick it on my POS work BlackBerry for times when the Nexus One's battery is dead.

Thanks, will check it out on my Curve.
I got tired of waiting on CO to simply create a shortcut, figured out the 3 buck investment to create it myself was a good spend. [hint] NOW if CO IT would make the flight number selection field automatically input numbers, so I could enter them one handed, I'd be happier[/hint] |
I for one would prefer an iPhone app but you really can't have everything :)

Needs for a Balckberry app
First, I would ike an app that saves my configuration. My One Pass number and password so I can immediately log in and do not have to type it in each time. From there I would like to access everything that is already on the mobile site, check in for flight, current itinerary, flight status, current balances, create a new flight...
|
At this point, it would seem pretty obvious that we will be inheriting the UA Blackberry app. I assume that does the job.
