What did I eat....??
I was on CO 444 from GUA to IAH on Dec. 31. in first class with my travel companion. There were 3 platinum members in first class.
The purser came to write down the meal order and beverage selection. The purser, Mr. P, wrote down that I want coke with lime no ice clearly ( I got serious cold and fever so I didn't want ice ). In addition, he did offer me exactly what I asked for when we boarded. He said "we have chicken and beef today." I ordered the last chicken. Several minutes later, he came to apology that they made a mistake that there was no chicken and it should be fish or beef. I didn't want to eat fish so I asked "can I have beef?" He said that he will check. After take off, another FA, Mr. C, served the beverage. He gave me coke with ice no lime........ I knew people make mistakes and it's fine. I told him that I asked for coke with lime no ice. He then said with attitude " we don't have lime" and just gave me a coke without ice and lime. I thought they ran out of lime. Ms. D, the other FA, served the meal. She brought me fish........obviously, the purser didn't tell her. So, I asked her again can I have beef. She said "let me check but you have to wait until last." I said "ok." In addition, I asked about the lime and she brought me a piece of lime immediately. So, the FA, Mr. C, didn't want to serve and lied to CO's customer. I started getting angry.....(I did see the paper that the purser wrote down what I want in the galley.) My travel companion and I were the last 2 served the meal. She did brought us "beef" but slightly different than other people's meal. First, other people has potato with beef and rice with fish. But both of us got rice with beef. Second, there were 2 pieces meat, one is red meat and one is white meat. I asked them what did I eat and the purser said it's veal. I haven't had veal before but it tasted and looked not like any kind of beef even it's veal. (I know veal looks white.) I really need your help to determine is this veal or other meat? (I want to know what did I eat....) 1. 2 different meat http://www.pigx5.com/Photos/2009/12/...images/026.jpg 2. beef http://www.pigx5.com/Photos/2009/12/...images/028.jpg 3. please let me know is this veal? http://www.pigx5.com/Photos/2009/12/...images/027.jpg I was not happy about FA C who lied to me and served with attitude so I asked for his name. The purser said FA C doesn't want to write down. When we landed, I asked his name in front of him. FA C said " I don't give my name to anyone." I said " I still can get your name from people work with CO, and it will be very ugly if I get your name from other people." FA C said with attitude " If you can get it, go ahead." So I found out his name and I will write to CO to let them know about this. NOW...Please help me to find out what did I eat..... thank you.... -- Update on Jan 11, 2010. 1. About many people said about the galley. If you sit in first class cabin and want to use lavatory, will you pass the front galley? Please don't tell me you always pee on your seat. I was on my way to my seat after using the lavatory. When I pass through the galley, the purser showed me the paper that he did write down everyone's beverage request which include mine, coke with lime no ice. He wanted to showed me he did his job well and the FA lied to me was not his business. It was also how I saw how many elite members in the first class cabin. I didn't went into the galley to check those information. 2. About the "veal" I just get an e-mail back from people who work in Agricultural Trade Office ,American Institute in Taiwan. If USA and Taiwan has formal diplomatic relations, it would be American Embassy. In his opinion, he thinks it appears to be a piece of pork tenderloin. I think I trust his opinion more since this is his job to know all kinds of meats. ------- Update on April 7, 2010 Update -1: after I sent the letter to find out what I had eaten. The first letter from We don't care 2 says: "Mr. pigx5, I sincerely apologize that you were not satisfied with the quality of the meal amenity we provided on our flight 444. Our goal is to provide a healthy, tasteful meal, and I truly regret we did not meet this expectation. I have contacted the Chelsea Catering Services that provides our meal service regarding your concerns. Chelsea Catering observes all federally defined regulations for public health and safety. The USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service insure that all public health agency regulations and policies are followed with frequently conducted inspections, of which Chelsea Catering is in full compliance. " Update -2: My question was that what had I eaten and they didn't answer. I sent the mail again. Here I got the response: "I have verified with Food Services that on your flight was loaded the following meat item. A combination of a beef medallion and a pork medallion which is commonly called a “mixed grill” Also a grilled Robalo, a local fish. Mr. pigx5, while we appreciate your concerns, we feel that we have addressed the matter and will not responding to any further correspondence on this issue." ----- It's not about beef or pork and It's about attitude and lying. They don't tell you how will they prevent this happen again but they tell they will not responding to any further correspondence on this issue. Maybe they should serve this to Muslims and still insist that it were veal or something healthy, tasteful and meet the USDA requirement. |
PORK ?

Unlike beef veal can be light pink or even white. It isn't definitely as dark as beef. So it is possible that it is veal. The other common white meats are pork and poultry. From the look I doubt it is poultry.
Also I don't know if it is right to post someones name her in the forum. This board isn't the Spanish inquisition and knowing the persons name doesn't make your post more informative. Thanks for taking out the name. |
It's veal.
You said you didn't want fish after it was brought out by mistake.. so they didn't give you fish the second go-round - that seems appropriate. Things may not have gone perfectly, but you seem to have an oversized sense of entitlement. Seriously, who looks in the galley to see what is written down on the paper for a drink order? As for giving you the wrong drink, you had a glass that was nearly empty of brown fluid - they assume it's coke. They don't notice or realize it's no ice or with lime - those are one-off requests. The no lime response? Who knows, but it's certainly not a big deal. That it made you angry is the odd part. It's a simple mistake, and if your attitude in your post resembles how you act toward FA then i'm not surprised you were treated poorly from that juncture onward. Here's the deal - you've been trained by the UA forum to be nit-picky and reactionary toward the airlines and their employees. We generally don't act that way over here on the CO forum. We complain when it's neccessary, but we certainly aren't seeking compensation, never threatening/antagonistic/aggressive toward FAs or anyone from the company in any manner, and most assuredly doing our best not to make ourselves out to look like malcontents. If you want to enjoy your time in our sandbox, you gotta learn to adapt. We don't just let CO take advantage of us but we don't make mountains out of molehills either. If you want to say a FA treated you poorly or didn't note your requests properly, fine, but don't be questioning "mystery meat" (you were told it was veal and a simple Google image search for veal entrees shows it is indeed veal) as that comes off as petty. And stay out of the galley. |
I got serious cold and fever so I didn't want ice ).
I wish sick people would stay off planes until they are well. |

It sure looks like veal, but say it isn't and it is of all horrors, pigx2 (being two servings of pig)
Would that be a problem or only if it was pigx5? |
I second no trips to the galley, especially in cases of:
serious cold and fever  |

First off all, you have absolutely no business posting FA names on this, or any other, website. I see that in the time it took me to write this, you corrected that. Thank you.
That being said, sorry to hear about your experience, but FWIW, the guy you mentioned is a friend of mine, and I'm kind of shocked to hear about this experience. Not denying what you say is true, but it must have been an off day for him. He's an excellent FA who I've known to provide excellent service. And yeah, I second KNRG. |
Yes, yes... I remember. I had lasagna :D

And stay out of the galley. 2. I did google before I post. I searched the wrong way so I didn't see the right picture. After search "google image", I do see the similar image. Thank you for giving me the right way to see. 3. As I described, I was ok when FA C served the wrong beverage which has written down in the beginning. I am not happy because I told him what I requested and he simply said we don't have lime. It's not about a piece of lime. It's about the attitude. If he can lie to me about lime how will I know they didn't lie to me about the veal? 4. Stay out of the galley?? If you sit if F and you want to use the lavatory, do you pass the galley? In addition, I didn't check the list by myself. The purser show it to me. 5. I wrote down the 3 FAs name due to different reasons and sorry that I shouldn't post their name here. a. The purser did he job well and he took all the responsibility. He kept saying sorry to me but it was not his fault. I appreciate that and I want to let CO know. But I also need to make sure that they didn't lie to me that it was indeed veal before I send. b. About FA C, if he said "let me check if we have lime" instead of answering "we don't have lime." I will be fine. If he came and said "I didn't notice that we have lime on board" after he lied to me. I will be fine. If he let me know he shouldn't lie to customers when I asked his name. I will be fine. But, he didn't. That's why I need his name to report. 6. When I take UA, I report bad things and I do report good service too. I do write to 1K desk to let them know what goes wrong and who did really good service. -- I don't want to mix other thing but this is another reason that I am not so sure what they tell me the truth or not. Long story short. Our outbound flight was DCA-IAH-GUA. When I try to check in on line, the website showed that I was "protected" on the flight 2 days later. My travel companion was still on the original flight but his seat assignment was changed. It was odd to me. I called the elite desk right away. Elite Desk agent said that my original flight had been canceled due to weather and no way to reroute or no early flights in 2 days. They won't put me on other carries as well. In addition, they won't pay for hotel because the cancellation was due to weather. I then asked why my friend was still on the original flight? She then checked again for few minutes and said "the inbound flight diverted due to weather. I checked co's website and I couldn't find this information. Everything showed normal.... I then asked "where the plane diverted to?" "Will it finally arrive DCA?" She checked for several minutes and came back to me "the flight wasn't canceled and there was an equipment change." "I already put you back to the original flight." I still don't know what was going on and I feel it was like they didn't want to take any responsibility and they just made up some excuses. Anyway.....I got my original flight back. |

I doubt confirmation of your drink order is worth the health of the FAs and other pax. |
