Come Downunder and join us if you can!

BiziBB Jun 13, 2009 6:48 am

BiziBB reporting... I just noticed this thread. :) Bl:eek::eek:y Ripper! :D

I've suggested Mrs BB's favourite restaurant; a great local place.

UAL4life, I love it when people from CO come to Sydney! ^

Downunder girl, have you tried Phuong at Crows Nest? A fun place, great family who run it, great location, next to a wine shop and close to the city but outside the tourist traps.

Delicious (but approachable, easy for anyone) food, nice outdoor dining, wine and good company. :)

Sounds fantastic to me ^. I dont think I have tried it, but I am KEEN to do so.

I hope it will be to (Bl:eek::eek:dy) Ripper's liking or I will get blasted in chat tomorrow for starting this thread ;). At least this will be one DO I actually can attend. Ripper gave me the date quite some time ago so its in my diary.

BTW I have assumed you will be joining us :)

B:eek:gger... weeknights are much better for me as it's a bit of a trek into the city on weekends and I'm thoroughly sick of the city to be coming back on weekends.

How long are you in town - at least until Monday or Tuesday night, when a FT party can be arranged, to continue this tradition? :)

Kiwi Flyer Jun 13, 2009 9:45 pm

I'm in Sydney one night only this time.

vecta Jun 13, 2009 10:04 pm

Phuong's is a great restaurant, have been a few times over the years. Authentic and tasty, exactly what is wanted out of a vietnamese restaurant.

If I'm around 11th Sept (schedule changes like a yoyo) and I can get Ms vec to come along, we'll be there.

Looking forward to it! I'll try to make sure Tony is working, if possible, as well as Phuong herself. :)

Oh I'm so sorry, KF, as I would love to meet you :(.

Can you change your flights so I can move you off the "pathetic excuses" list perhaps? ;)

As BiziBB says, perhaps this will grow into a weekend extravaganza!

vecta, I hope you can both make it. Have added you to the "maybe" list.

todorovic Jun 14, 2009 5:10 am

Looks like you guys will have fun - wish we could join you but the rest of the year is already fully booked when it comes to leisure travel. Boy, do I wish I had more vacation days :(.

Pat89339 Jun 14, 2009 4:37 pm

Sorry to miss out on this. My next flight to SYD isn't until 9/29.

BiziBB Jun 14, 2009 4:42 pm

Pat, I'm sorry you can't make it but am happy to meet you or set up something at the Shangri La (a v. popular, spectacular and extremely pleasant place) around 5PM-ish per our other recent threads, like boxo's fun week here and JohnSydney2000's Bondi Walk Do. :)

ozstamps Jun 14, 2009 4:57 pm

Closeby to us and would like to attend but we may well take another trip to Argentina in September as we like it here.

These 30,000+ EQM trip are good fun. :)

At the EZE RCC now, and had a great week in Patagonia. 40 hours of flights ahead today.

Please pencil us in as "Maybe's" as no idea 3 months out, of our travel plans. ;)

Glen

Downunder girl Jun 15, 2009 7:42 am

Sorry that Todo and Pat cant make it :(.

I have added you to the "maybe" list, ozstamps. Hope it works out for you.

BiziBB Jun 15, 2009 8:16 pm

ozstamps, Kiwi Flyer and anyone else here briefly, but not for this night, I am about to put this on Twitter: a rave review, looks great, especially if we could catch up for a Friday lunch. :p

The six-course midday steal [SMH Good Living: 18/20]
Marque 18/20 Set-price Friday lunch

The summary The $45 lunch must be the best-value meal anywhere in Sydney and perhaps the world. You may find cheaper but I doubt it's in the same class. Brilliant.

Omnivore Jun 16, 2009 8:09 am

I could be a maybe, depends on if I can get there, college & work, I'm constrained by public transport from Gosford to get there so that may pose problems.

I hope you can make it :). Understand re the travelling but hopefully a train from Gosford can get you reasonably close by. One of us might be able to do a train run to collect the train goers and bring them to Crows Nest @:-).

Have added you to the Maybe list.

Luckily, there is a good wine shop very close, so you can even bring along a taste of Hawkes Bay. :)

I hope that you can make it. Can you check 131500.info to see if there is a timely routing to get you to St Leonards?
Is Gosford-Hornsby-Epping-Chatswood workable? BiziBBs would head back to the Nthn line this way, on the way home.

Omnivore, it would be great if you can work it out. We can get started and you could arrive whenever your transport allows.

Cheers,
BB

Omnivore Jun 18, 2009 3:15 am

Thanks for the offers look like only college and work are the excuses now :P

Will let you all know Gosford-Epping is doable, and it could give me a nice excuse to try the new Epping-Chatswood rail link. Will have to work out how to do it given I've never met anyone.

BiziBB Jun 18, 2009 7:42 am

As long as you can spot the neon yellow(ish) FT tag on at least one bag, you'll be fine.
I'll have a black TravelPro laptop bag with the tag put on, if this is something that helps.

We will be sitting outside and will have a FT tag on the table, so you will be fine if you can spot a 15 x 3 cm bright yellow tag. :D

Downunder girl Jun 18, 2009 7:47 am

I will bring my FT tag too :D.

I might even pin it on Mini DG (oh she will kill me for that ;) )!

Downunder girl Jun 20, 2009 1:00 am

Shameless BUMP to keep this on the front page :D

Hope I have not broken any CB rules...

chchkiwi Jun 20, 2009 1:17 am

Please color me Gold. Hope to be able to confirm Platinum in the very near future.

tinkybelle Jun 20, 2009 1:44 am

Downunder girl Jun 20, 2009 5:34 am

Great - I look forward to seeing chchkiwi and meeting tinkybelle +1, if you can make it.

Attendees updated to post #34 :D.

Pooch Jun 20, 2009 7:33 pm
