As the game only has a couple of people wanting in, a lack of alcohol, and hot may day. I suggest that game be moved to flying saucer, Austin.

For those who are interested, we had a pretty good time this weekend. It started out at noon at the Live Oak Brewery on 5th St, where Julie (one of the two brewers) expounded her passion on the subject of brewing beer to myself, colpuck, SchmutzigMSP, and nzqjyb and some other assorted non-FT'ers. I have to say that I've been to about five different brewery tours, but this one probably had more information in it than any of the others. I took some pictures which I will load up to Facebook sometime this week, but if you are ever in Austin and wondering what to do around noon on Saturday, this is a must-do. I may even have to go back from time to time to...er...refresh my memory (READ: drink some more free beer). :) I took the afternoon off, so colpuck, SchmutzigMSP, and nzqjyb will have to fill you in on the Beer & BBQ event in Waterloo Park. From what I can tell though, the chihuahua races were a hit. ;) Later, we all met up at the Salt Lick at our appointed time and spent the next 45 minutes or so waiting to be seated. That is where TexasYankee and Mrs. TexasYankee hooked up with us and the spilt beer happened. But, again, it was worth the wait. I'm long over the Family Style, which is just too much $$ considering that a simple plate is more than enough food for me, but from what I can tell, those who did order Family Style got their money's worth. I had a beef and rib plate and asked for burnt ends for my beef portion and they did not disappoint. ^ After the Salt Lick, we piled into the Ranger and headed downtown to The Ginger Man and that is where the spilt Flyertalker happened. But, we made it out alive and that's what counts. :) The next day, it was just me and colpuck at the Saucer. We asked them to put one of their channels to the Longhorn/Aggie game, but it was a no-go. Apparently, FCS Central is an additional cost to their dish package, but they could get FCS Atlantic and Georgia/Georgia Tech, which was useless to us. So, we finished our beers and headed down to Disch-Falk Field where colpuck purchased General Admission tickets. Still not wishing to sit on the berm in full sunshine to the tune of 94 degrees, I took a pass and headed home instead, where I found the Longhorn/Aggie game to be in progress on Grande Cablevision. So, I spent the afternoon in the barcalounger going back and forth between the UT game and the Rockets game in the comfort of the air conditioner. ^ The UT game ended up being very close. Texas broke out to a 5-run lead in the first inning and never scored again. I mean their offense just dried up big-time. In the meantime, the Aggies fought back and in the top of the 9th it was 5 - 4 Texas. But, Austin Wood shut them down and Texas ended up winning the regular-season Big 12 title outright. One highlight I will never forget was Cameron Rupp's unassisted double-play at third base in the 5th inning. There was one out, with Aggies at second and third. The batter hit a mild comebacker to the pitcher and he flipped it over to Rupp (the catcher) who ran down the Aggie on third base who was trying to take home, and then he dove forward to the bag to tag out the Aggie who was trying to advance from second. It was an unbelievable play. Anyway, thanks to colpuck for having arranged all of this. I had great time meeting new folks and touching base with some I already knew. Best regards, William R.
