If I manage to get into this event later today, does anyone know of a good place to store luggage at the event or at SFO? I'll be flying out to Denver at 6:30PM, so I figure i'll just cab it to SFO and go from there....

Pull... PULL... PULL... PULL !!!

Does anyone know where to PARK for this if driving up and not having a "fleet week parking permit?" Long term parking charges $5 an hour for short term use, and ParkSFO wants to hit you up for 1 day minimum ($11.95+tax). The alternatives suggested above are no bargain (except for the incredibly time consuming BART approach)! Walking from the rental lot will take a long time, although once you reach SFO you could take the long term parking shuttle instead.

Excellent photos - thank you!

When I left the event around 3:00 the FlyerTalk Plane Pull Team was in third place. The Blue Angels were first and a UA Team was second. Six teams had participated by that time. I do have some video which I took with my digital camera. I will upload that as soon as I find the cord, which I thought I had.

Some more pics of the plane pull competition.

(my wife made me take the pics of the "pretty boys"... and by that she meant the Blue Angels, sorry guys)

Thanks especially goes out to lucky9876coins, flyua, and all the UA personnel who made this event possible for us. It was a bunch of fun.

Yes !!! Thank you lucky - this was an excellent experience !!!

There was a 744 that we were allowed to tour a lot of the nooks and crannies. It will be on the way tonight to SYD as UA863 with Downunder Girl and Downuder Mini onboard.

Thanks to Lucky and flyua who put this together.

Indeed, many thanks to lucky9876coins and flyua and others who put together a first class afternoon and arranged for a great post-Do dinner. Wonderful FT turnout at both events!

I believe the technical term is mini-DG ;) (as she learned this evening).

Just back from dinner, great time had as usual. Thanks to lucky for organizing and especially to Frank for liaison and chauffeur duties. ;)

Now sitting in the UA Westin Renewal Lounge; Lucky just ran to his gate -- Lucky, flyua, many, many thanks for this experience!

Thanks to Pat+'s guesting me, I'm in the other side of the RCC. :D Indeed, much thanks to lucky9876coins, flyua, and all the FTers that attended this awesome event! It was well worth a trip from LAX! ^

Thank you lucky for all of your hard work planning this great day!

Also, a big thanks to all the FTers that came out and made this day a ton of fun:)

Pat89339 Oct 12, 2008 11:05 pm

FlyerTalkers UA Plane Pull video plus a bit of the Canadian Snowbirds at the end.

I'd also like to add my thanks to all the hard work by flyua and Lucky and anyone else involved in allowing us to participate in this event.

RichardInSF Oct 12, 2008 11:22 pm

We got there a bit too late for the plane pull, but enjoyed the day regardless. And I finally saw the exhibit showing the new C/F seat -- probably the closest I'll get to the new C seat in the next few years given how slowly the upgrades are going!

The dinner was great too, it's really nice having the upstairs room to ourselves at Hola. And look at all the folks who were there that I didn't say "hi" too -- I am already feeling guilty about that.

Tell you what: If you show up at the Park Hyatt Shanghai next Saturday, I'll buy you a drink, no matter what the hotel charges for it!

Super fun day! Thank you lucky9876coins and flyua for putting it all together, and thanks to United for allowing us to attend.

jmd001 Oct 13, 2008 8:53 am

Let me pile on more thanks to lucky9876coins and flyua!

At least our plane-puller team beat the Boy Scouts!!! :D:D:D At least we were in first place for a while (since we were the first team to pull! :D ) And ultimately being 4th out of 8 (considering competition like the Blue Angels) is OK!

I saw the Snowbirds a few years ago at the Reno Air Races and they are one of the best demo teams out there. Absolutely incredibly precise. Anyone know if Sean Tucker flew this year? That guy is beyond insane. Not many people who can take -6 G's without their head blowing off not to mention 10 feet off the ground inverted.

And as always, a huge thanks to Lucky and to others who helped organize this.

It went out on time but I hope they have a big deck of SkyKits onboard as we were able to spot lots of problems -- snakelight that did not work, many seat video screens that would not stay in place.

a huge thanks to lucky9876coins and flyua for putting this together. ton's o' phun and i had a blast

Wow!

Wow, what a weekend, I have no clue where to start.

First and foremost, thanks to all the great folks at UA that made this possible, from flyua to all the other volunteers/coordinators that worked their rears off to put this together. It's amazing how much work goes into organizing such an event (and I'm not just talking about the FT aspect, but the event as a whole), yet there are dedicated people that volunteer their time to make this happen. Kudos!^^^

Let's see, a few of the highlights for me:
  • Without a doubt the coolest part of the event for me was being able to check out the crew rests on the 747, and also being able to walk around and under the jumbo. Seeing the crew rests was fascinating, and a very rare opportunity no less.

What I liked even more was being able to walk around the 747 in such close proximity. I always look in awe when I see a 747 captain doing a walkaround of a 747, especially when they get near the wheels or anything which shows just how massive of a beast the 747 is. Being able to walk under the fuselage, under the wings, near the engines, etc., was fascinating!
  • Sadly enough I haven't flown the new C/F yet, so being able to check out those seats was awesome. I was impressed, although it was kind of odd lying flat in an airplane seat and looking up at the roof of a hangar.:D
  • The ability to interact with so many great UA employees outside of uniform was great. I had the chance to talk to a few great mechanics and even a few flight attendants, all of which were great.

Thanks again UA!^^^^^

Just want to add my vote of thanks to flyua, lucky and all the others at UA who made it possible. Yet another great event, and it was great to meet a few other FT'ers in the short time I was there, and even better (sorry) to chat to several UA employees.

Only wish I'd been able to spend the whole day there and bring Cricketer Jr, who would have had a field day.

JeepGuyDE Oct 13, 2008 2:23 pm

Another thanks to lucky, flyua, United Airlines, and the United employees for this awesome event and experience!
