Hello to my 'new' Alaskan Friends!

Thanks to a glitch price at the Howard Johnson's in Anchorage (20.00 per night for a 2 bed suite), I'm finding myself on a 50 hour trip to Alaska the end of next month.


I'll be arriving on CO from SEA at 11:23pm on the 28th of August, and then leaving also on CO at 12:40am on the 31st.


Currently, I plan on visiting the Alaska State Fair one of the two days (so kind of them to be holding it while I am there). I also will be meeting up with a friend from High School, who happens to work at the Anchorage Museum.

I'd imagine that all occurring during one of the two days, so I have some free time, and since you FT's from Alaska are always happy to see and meet "new" people, I figured I'd take a shot and see who or what is out there.


Anyway, I look forward to some replies (I hope), as well as some suggestions, etc.

I'll definitely be looking at an excuse to go to the fair. Looks like I'll be off most of the days you're here (although things can always change).

Second the reminder... too far in advance for myself but always like random meet ups... we could at least visit the ANC BR ;)

Is there currently plans for a get-together in the next couple of months? I am planning on taking a trip to ANC (for some personal R&R - don't ask). There are many reasons I want to take a trip to Alaska but one reason is to actually, and legitimately, set foot on this great state. Missydarlin says my reasoning to have set foot in Alaska is, and I quote, "LAME!" I have been to all 50 states but Alaska was a layover in 1970 for refueling.

Violist is in town this week and we are going to the Whale Fat Follies Tuesday night. Belle is coming up the end of August but nothing is set yet, but the State fair will probably included. Other than that, I am not aware of anything.

Whenever someone comes through we are more than willing to "DO" something.;) What dates will you be around and where are you planning on going to?

I love Alaska, although I have only been to a few places, it still is one of my fav places. Sadly, I may not make it up there until Feb (annual meeting is then) and only to ANC :/ I am still hopeing to get to Valdez when the salmon are running as my guy from Alyeska says it is an amazing place then.

U love is almost impossible on AS Wed. night. Even the late flights are pretty full, so we should plan a BR meet up....

Full love for Wednesday night from AS, so we will be on AS 104 at 7:10PM. Time to firm up the BR meetup.

Also, what is the plan for tonight and WFF? Dinner prior, at the show? When is everyone arriving?
