5 hr. layover in Vienna
Hi All,
New here. I'll be flying through Vienna on March 6, and have a 5 hr. layover. Will that 5 hrs. give me enough time to leave the airport and see Vienna, and if so what do you suggest?
Thanks,
Pete

Yes, you'll definitely have enough time. Take the City Air Train (CAT) into Wien Mitte (Vienna Central) train station and then transfer onto the U3 Subway to Stephansdom-City. The whole journey won't take more than 25 minutes. That will put you right into the very heart of the city where you can walk around the pedestrian zone for a couple of hours and get lost visiting the various cafes, shops, etc in that area. You can then reverse the above train procedure and get back to VIE with time to spare.
PS: If you have money to blow you can avoid the trains and take a cab or any one of the car services in VIE's arrivals hall. C&K is the best, would probably cost you around 25 euros into the city. A cab will be more.

Welcome ID8 and have fun in one of my favorite cities... Once you spend an hour or so there my expectation is for sure you will return another time for some days...Axey has given you some good transportation advice in my opinion.

Once you get to mitte station...the subways in Vienna are easy to use. If you stay downtown, make sure you check out the Stephensdome Cathedral. There is a restaurant nearby called Figlmuellers. They have the best Wiener Schnitzel! If you are more into palaces...you can take one of the subways to Schoenbrunn Palace. The grounds, palace, and glorietta are absolutely beautiful!
