please don't put trip reports in the community thread - communitybuzz is not the forum for trip reports and we all want the thread to stay in communitybuzz! - don't we? splitting threads later and moving those posts to the trip report forum is alot of work for the moderators.

Per the request of the mods maybe someone could start a BUH/AMS trip report thread. Post the link in here because I have not found that forum yet. Personally it seems to me that keeping it in one thread makes sense, but I guess I am just silly that way.

Presenting the KL (or even AZ) boarding pass and a DL/NW/CO Platinum card (or anyother ElitePlus card) to the OTP lounge desk person will get the person to fill in a blank lounge card with the appropriate details and permit access thereby. It works pretty well.

The lounge can be pretty crowded often enough and the internet PCs don't always work, but it functions and the staff there have been friendly and helpful whenever I've been there lounge card given in advance or not.

Okay, I've started a Trip Reports thread. I'll PM chrissxb to make the appropriate transfers.

:-: updated :-:

My apologies to the folks who emailed itins. When I make a mental note of posted itins, sometimes I forget that I need to actually add them to the calendar! Thanks for your patience.

Just an FYI: I'm not typing in AMS as a connection since it's a given. AMS will be posted if it's a stopover.

Thanks to all who are participating in the FT spirit and community-ness that is this calendar and to those who have posted their Reports after travel.

FourWheels Dec 14, 2006 5:52 am

Oh, Santa Claus got in on this deal!? He's on our calendar.

Dear Santa, you could've added two stopovers to your itin or routed yourself through US cities. Lucky kids in YVR and OTP. And you got around the 7 day min. ;)

I think Santa has been on there for a couple of months! He must have friends at NWA, or got his change in early!

Is Santa WP Elite? Or is he boycotting DL in support of karthik? Who flies from BRW anyway? Well, let's hope he gets his upgrades. He deserves to ride up front. And the reindeer need a break.

Corrections made, davetravels. Thanks for the email.

imm2b, you and Santa Claus apparently will be on the same YVR-AMS fight. ;)

Alaska Airlines! Of course. :) He must have gotten a good deal, as this flight alone to YVR or SEA is $500-$1000!

the_nomad Dec 23, 2006 12:18 pm

Here's one more:

Sun 6/10/07 YYZ-DTW-AMS (After driving up from Buffalo)
MON 6/11/07 AMS-OTP

SUN 6/17/07 OTP-AMS
SUN 6/1707 AMS-YYZ
Overnight at YYZ hotel (where my car will be parked) and then drive home.

Not sure what I'll be doing for that week. If anyone else will be there at that time and is in the same boat too, I'd be up for planning something together.

Cheers

chrissxb, you aren't on the calendar. ;)

No news is good news from imm2b and Jaimito Cartero.

Jaimito Cartero Dec 25, 2006 10:18 pm

Yes, no news is good news. Made it to MAD finally. KL Biz class is okay, but I found the service to be underwhelming. The KL lounge dragons were nasty about letting us in the lounge since they KL boarding pass from YVR only listed the Dec 23rd departure date, and didn't seem to like the canceled flight excuse I gave.

KLM still ran both planes, about half an hour apart. I did get to meet imm2b and his family in the lounge. The lounge that KLM uses in YVR is nice, with soup, chili and some spring rolls. They're also pretty liberal about letting people in. imm2b got his family in with a NWA US gold card.

FourWheels Dec 28, 2006 5:14 pm

Thanks for the reports, JC. :)

I'll ask chrissxb to move your posts to the NW BUH Deal Trip Reports thread.

Mini-Do in Bucharest

From reading this thread, it appears as though Gargoyle, Hudson, LAX21 and I will all be in Bucharest next week.

How about a mini-do?????

I'm staying at the IC from 3rd thru 6th, and Hilton on 7th and 8th.

^ ^

FourWheels Mar 28, 2007 8:54 pm

A mini BUH-DO would be fun! If you haven't already, rtarbuck, send PMs to each FTer. Good luck, have fun and report back in the Trip Reports BUH thread.

Unfortunately, we had to cancel the tix. We had a conflict come up and couldn't adjust our sched. :(

Have a great time, sorry we won't be able to join you.

FourWheels Mar 29, 2007 7:38 am

Calendar's adjusted. Too bad about having to cancel, Gargoyle.

The weather was unusually warm when I was there last week. Hope it's decent for all of you. Suppose Spring is here now though.

sorry to dissapoint.. i'm not going to make it either unfortunately..

I had to cancel this res. a while back not sure if I was going to get time off work.. I regret it now :)

Funny how NWA.com still shows my reservation ...ofc w/ no e-ticket listed anymore but I can still see all the flights and change seat assigntments...is that a normal thing for cancelled reservations w/ NWA?

Happy travels and Happy Easter*

Can you get by with just euro in Bucharest?

Not at the airport. None of the machines accept Euros, only Romanian lei. A can of beer from the vending machines costs 5 lei, the same as a Coke. I could not find any cambio/exchange booths open at 1am. The KLM contract lounge in BUH is very nice. Many, many varieties of drinks and some decent pastry-type things, plus a bank of maybe 4-5 computer stations with free Internet access. Definitely worth going there ASAP if you're overnighting in the airport. Not that anyone would do such a thing...

PaulMSN Apr 16, 2007 10:10 am

It appears I will be taking the two late-summer trips I booked, so here are my itineraries:

21 Jul KL0692 YYZ 6:05pm AMS 7:15am+1
22 Jul KL1143 AMS 9:55am OSL 11:40am
03 Aug KL1142 OSL 9:40am AMS 11:30am
03 Aug KL1359 AMS 1:05pm OTP 4:45pm
04 Aug KL1390 OTP 2:15pm AMS 4:10pm
05 Aug KL0691 AMS 1:40pm YYZ 3:35pm

30 Aug NW1503 YYZ 4:30pm DTW 5:51pm
30 Aug NW0054 DTW 7:10pm AMS 9:00am+1
06 Sep NW1359 AMS 1:00pm OTP 4:40pm
06 Sep NW1360 OTP 5:40pm AMS 7:35pm
08 Sep NW0047 AMS 11:30am DTW 2:10pm
08 Sep NW5806 DTW 5:10pm YYZ 6:24pm

I might try to change my 6 Sep AMS-OTP to 2, 3 or 4 Sep when I get to AMS. I want to go to Brasov again, or maybe the Black Sea coast. But it depends on my luck with the KL agents.

FourWheels Apr 17, 2007 8:42 am

I'm out of town at the moment. Maybe mcrt could add PaulMSN's itin to the calendar? If so, thanks. If not, I will... sometime before July. ;)

Jeeves Apr 17, 2007 8:48 am

I had to cancel my August trip. Too little time. I'm on the calendar on the following dates: August 18, 25, and 28.

Glad to see so many others have taken advantage of this fare.

YVR Cockroach Apr 21, 2007 12:34 pm

Anyone in AMS next weeked? 27-30 April

I have a 3 day layover. Right on the Queen's Birthday which I understand will rather be like carnival time.

23/4 YVR-LAX-AMS
24/4 AMS-LHR
27/4 LHR-AMS-OTP-AMS
30/4 AMS-YVR

SASfan Apr 21, 2007 6:43 pm

YVR Cockroach, the Queen's birthday in AMS is a great time!

Konnigendag, you're going to love it. Be sure to bring something orange to wear...

It has been a long time since I was on this thread. Turns out was decent timeing since there were a couple of updates to do and FourWheels was out of town. Did edits for Jeeves, YVR Cockroach and PaulMSN.

My second trip is coming up on May 12. This time I'm staying in AMS for the week instead of Romania. After the great time that I had in November it would be nice to do Romania again.
