LATE Friday Night Eats at La Pau Sat, most Friday night folks are getting in at midnight. Some will be checking in at their hotel and then heading over and some will be catching a taxi directly from the airport. So a safe start time would be 1am.

Sunday Itineary

Ideas:
Sunday evening always had a few choices.
Night Safari (although I've never gone, I'd be interested)
Food Court @ Changi Village (?if memory serves me correctly)

I won't be able to make it to this SIN Do. :(
Hopefully in 2008 again.

seanthepilot Dec 11, 2006 9:30 am

I've heard throught the Grapevine that Flyertalkers have unofficially met on Friday evening at the New Asia Bar at the Swissotel 71 & 72nd floor, Swissôtel The Stamford

How about we add that as an official pre-SIN do event?

You can mark me down for
La Pau Sat Late-night Friday
No Signboard on Saturday evening

Other Possible events

Sunday evening always had a few choices.
Night Safari (although I've never gone, I'd be interested)
Food Court @ Changi Village (?if memory serves me correctly)

Saturday afternoon has seen similar choices
we've done:
Indian Lunch
Singapore Walking Tour (one of my favorites, by far)
Beers and snacks along the Quay
ANY intrest in the above could be a go! *hint hint*

work2fly Dec 11, 2006 9:54 am

I'm in for LPS Friday night and No Signboard on Saturday night.

An Indian lunch on Saturday could be very good...I was planning to get my Muthu's fish head curry fix at some point during the weekend, but am open to other options as well!!

Also, there were a few folks interested in wine tasting on Sunday evening - my offer to host still stands. I've got a suite at the Conrad with exec lounge access - so between my sitting room or the lounge itself, a place to taste shouldn't be a problem...

Just a note - those of us who have "hosted" in the lounge before have been hit up with unexpected charges on our room bill.

I'd easily be interested in a Sunday night dinner, as well as the Walking Tour, which was spectacular IIRC, and of course, Tiger Beer on Boat Quay is a perennial favorite!!

I'd be glad to work on the Boat Quay event if its even something that warrants a "sponsor".

Best, Dave

I was planning to order a cheese board and crudite - and depending on the number of people - either use one of the meeting rooms (that I think you get for free on the exec level) or just host in my living room.

However, with the TSA ban on carrying on bottles of wine and potential hidden charges from the hotel, perhaps it's best to try this some other time...it's not like Singapore is lacking in the food and drink department :p

gvdIAD Dec 11, 2006 11:04 am

Is there any particular reason we go to the No Signboard branch in Geylang instead of the one at the Esplanade? (I freely admit that I have a self-interest in asking this question, since the Esplanade branch is within easy walking distance of the Conrad, where I'm staying.)

I'm not sure that there is a "reason", altho I prefer the Esplanade branch as well. It could well be the "difficulty" of getting that many seats at one time. My recollection of Geylang is that its not as crowded as Esplanade.

FLYGVA Dec 11, 2006 2:01 pm

Sweet Willie, thanks for the PM.

Well, I think I won't make it. It might be, that I will decide last minute, if there is a Ready-to-fly offer by Lufthansa to SIN in January, but I doubt this will happen (high season).

TechOps Dec 11, 2006 3:29 pm

Don't think I'll be able to make it this year -- I am flying a bit too much in January. Will try for 2008! Have fun..
