Note to self: Look at what forum you are in before you create new post.

Ok...now that you know I'm a complete dork, is there anyone around on April 20th for dinner in PDX? I'm around for work and would love to meet any FTers who might be in the area.

essxjay Mar 19, 2006 4:15 pm

That's a Thursday, eh .... put me down a possible definite. Will have to see how that week unfolds.

flying_kittens Mar 19, 2006 8:09 pm

Yeah, possibly! I'd like to meet some other FT'ers.

missydarlin Mar 19, 2006 11:24 pm

put me down as a maybe too :)

joporto Mar 19, 2006 11:37 pm

Another maybe here.

Law Lord Mar 20, 2006 1:35 am

April 20 should work for me.

jpdx Mar 20, 2006 3:38 pm

I'll be there.

Mc Cormack & Schmick's, as usual?

BoyAreMyArmsTired Mar 20, 2006 9:26 pm

Yay! Dinner with someone other than myself (I get tired of me after a while). :) I'm staying out at the airport because I'm off to DFW the next morning, but I'll find wherever the locals pick. And Missy, we have some toasting to do! I haven't seen you in sooooo long!

cmdinnyc Mar 25, 2006 7:22 pm

I'll almost be there. My flight doesn't get in to PDX until 10 pm.

BoyAreMyArmsTired Mar 26, 2006 1:08 am

I'll add updates to the first post as we get a little closer...

OUCH! Okay, I'm in.

opushomes Mar 29, 2006 4:07 pm

Opushomes and Marsha should be in town. LarryU expects to be around also. So put us down, we can always cancel later.

missydarlin Mar 29, 2006 4:23 pm

looks like I'm out. I'll be thinking of y'all while I'm sitting on cold wet bleachers watching my son play ball

BoyAreMyArmsTired Mar 31, 2006 11:48 pm

Told you! :)

Assuming that the location is wheelchair accessible, FlyingPenguin and I wouldn't mind popping down from SEA for the evening to meet some FTers.

joporto Apr 4, 2006 3:15 am

I am fairly certain that McCormick and Schmick's is accessible. I will double check though and post confirmation of that. If that is the determined location for dinner.

I can commit to attending at least part of the evening, but won't be able to get there until 8 pm due to work.

Excellent! Do you have an address for McCormick and Schmick's? (I'm not sure if there's more than one in PDX.)

Actually, I thought about that yesterday ...

Yes, there is more than one M&S outlet: you want the one on SW First Avenue at Oak St. in Old Town. It's right on the MAX line, btw.

BAMAT, Do you want me to send you a Powell's Bookstore map of DT/Pearl District? They're about the best in terms of showing the various hotels, transpo lines (MAX, bus mall, street car) and other POI. I've got several extras just for sending out to FTers.

I would love that, thanks so much! Hope to see you there too. :)

joporto Apr 8, 2006 1:18 pm

I walked by lMcCormick and Schmick's last night and there is a sign in the window saying that there is an accessible entrance on Oak St. There is a six inch step for the 1st street entrance.

nfc Apr 8, 2006 11:15 pm

Count me in. I'll be in Portland that week scouting out living arrangements for our move in May. Look forward to meeting some new FTers.

Excellent! I've updated the list on the first post. :)

opushomes Apr 11, 2006 10:19 am

Did I miss it? Is there a meeting time for dinner?

You didn't! It's Thursday, April 20th, and we didn't set a time. I'm ok from 6:00 on. Anyone with a time preference? Do we need reservations?

opushomes Apr 11, 2006 1:16 pm

We prefer 7 or later, but will go with the majority. Yes, I recommend reservations at the downtown location for a fairly large group.

joporto Apr 11, 2006 8:40 pm

I prefer the 7pm time as I will be a little late as it is (I work until 7). But my feelings won't be hurt if it works out better for everyone else with an earlier time. :)

BoyAreMyArmsTired Apr 13, 2006 11:27 pm

I haven't seen any posts with other suggestions, so I'll call this weekend and make a reservation for 7:00 under "Flyertalk". Looking forward to meeting everyone!

flying_kittens Apr 16, 2006 10:31 am

I'll be there. Looking forward to meeting y'all!

LarryU Apr 16, 2006 8:50 pm

A couple of friends of mine would like to join us for dinner so can you add two more to the list?

Since you put it that way ... :D

Erm, not sure what time I can get there for sure, but I can probably make it by 8 for a quick drink and howdy do. (I have truckloads of schoolwork already. ) Save me a seat?

Yay! We'll definitely save a seat for you (and maybe two for your schoolwork). :)

psychtobe Apr 18, 2006 10:31 pm

was trying to work this out but not going to be able to this time. Sorry to miss everyone, Joporto, Opus, Larry, and Marsha as well as the others.

That is too bad. Sorry you can't make it. Surely there will be future times. Shakti

Kremmen Apr 19, 2006 5:51 pm

FlyingPenguin has too much work to do to really be able to afford the time, so we won't make it after all. We'll be going down to the Freddies though, so might see you there if any of you are going.

Awww...sorry we'll miss you...because I was certainly looking forward to hearing about how flying penguin came up with that handle!

Ling Apr 20, 2006 4:31 pm

Am thinking of driving up to go to Cameron's books. If I make it up by 5pm, may drop by mcCormick's before going home.

Linda

opushomes Apr 20, 2006 4:52 pm

re: Ling's message

Ling, please do. It is only a couple of blocks from Camerons. This means that we finally meet.
