Thanks. That's very kind of you to say. :)

Please add me to the "Tentative" list. Three of the past five years I've been in London over Veterans Day/Remembrance Day, so the odds would seem to be pretty good for 2006.

SanDiego1K Feb 27, 2006 4:21 pm

ralfkrippner and gvdIAD, I've added you to the attendees.

Here's the current look at what is planned.

Saturday
14:00 Boat trip to include afternoon tea
17:00 Boat trip ends either
(a) back to hotels to freshen up
(b) mini pub crawl

19:00 Meet Soho bar for drinks
21:00 Dinner
23:00 either
(a) casino
(b) carry on drinking restaurant/bar, followed by casino c 01:00

Sunday
12:00 Dim Sum in Chinatown
14:00 Walking tour or train to Windsor
16:00 Tour ends in pub

We'll be announcing venues as they are determined. Thanks for all who have indicated now that you plan to attend. It's quite a different matter to chose a restaurant for 30 versus a restaurant for 130.

Anyone is welcome to plan activities they want to host outside the core time of 2pm Saturday to 4pm Sunday. We are calling those activities the FRINGE.

Will use a 2 for 1 voucher, and then Stay and drink Ralfkripners mini bar dry :)

Dino, timing is everything. Wait for ralf to make nonrefundable reservations. THEN tell him your plan for his minibar. ;)

:D

I guess the Interconti is fully booked and I have to opt for a Holiday Inn Express... ;)

Anyone staying near Islington? I booked the travelodge there, and I'm going myself so if anyone is staying there or nearby, let me know. Don't fancy getting a taxi back myself, being a young scots lass! :D

I'll probably be staying there as well. I'll book and confirm everything once this month's credit card billing cycle ends. It's been a rough month, thanks to the flight to GLA...

Please put me down as tentative. . .oh and SD1K as you know - you'll definitely have to send me a "reminder" every so often :D

SanDiego1K Mar 2, 2006 12:13 pm

ldsant, oh, you'll get reminders. :D I know your email address, your home address, your phone number, your IM........

For the PC people... I hope you noticed that the 2 for 1 UK offer is working for these dates... not available at all hotels (No IC, CP St James, HI Oxford St), but the Mayfair (c £70/night) and the Bloomsbury (c. £50/night) both currently have availability.

TxLobo Mar 3, 2006 8:51 am

Im in ...........

I have my reservations at the Renaissance LHR. hard to beat with a 100 pound Marriott Premium Pounds voucher. 10.00 plus tax per night :p

I usually get the 55 pound rate but right now the cheapest rate I can find is 60. ???

You might also want to add the The Lord Mayor's Parade and then the evening fireworks on Rembrance Day to the list of things to do. Best of all it is free.
