Excellent, thank you! Now I can get the application sent out today.

You would schedule this during the exact time you knew we'd be in the US playing Meet the Parents. :furieaux:

GK Feb 28, 2006 9:43 am

Excellent. ^

What do you guys like to drink? I'll bring whatever you like, since I'm a university student, and thus incredibly flexible in that regard... ;) :D

Let me know within a week or so on whether you know if you guys are going to be around as I'm going to be attempting to book a oneworld award that encompasses both Bali and Germany with points in between.

Well it turns out that there just wasn't any oneworld award availability for the dates that would have worked for me. Let me further clarify that and state that there was no availabity in "C"

Perhaps we will try again in conjunction with the London DO in November and Jerrie will be able to travel at that time also.

GK Mar 3, 2006 12:43 am

magic111, things will be better for RTW here when RJ is in the club.. but November is a great time to visit as well ;)

Anything with alcohol should do the trick really ;) :D. I would; however, advise you to buy your stuff here at the airport's Duty Free. Once you clear customs, there is a small Duty Free section by the baggage claim area. I think prices here might be a bit cheaper than Europe.

Which are the "requirements" for my guest?

Hmmm, I have several options:

more the kind of: absolutely stunningly gorgeous
or
more the kind of: absolutely dirty minded with good humor?

I know you would like the combination of both charcteristics....let me think... :p

That's what I was thinking (tentatively, of course).. BEY over thanksgiving? ;)

Jimmy67 Mar 15, 2006 10:15 am

Thanksgiving?

Eid el Fitr in October would be much more better!

GK Mar 17, 2006 5:33 am

The last Thursday of November. This year it's November 23rd.
Most 'murricans get out of work early on Wednesday and many have Friday off as well. Which makes this a very good weekend to travel.

Legal holidays: USC Title 5 Section 6103

4th Thursday in November :)

We are debating York or BEY as an add-on for the London DO. Probably contingent on whether RJ is in oneworld with enough time to plan. But IIRC you guys are there for 5 years so we still have time to wait for RJ @:-)

This is only partly true. Since everyone else has that exact same idea as well, flights are always packed and the airports are a complete zoo. The days around Thanksgiving are some of the busiest travel days of the year in the US, right up there with Christmas.

The trick is to travel on Thursday, Thanksgiving day.

Domestic flights are packed but not true for international. Airlines in the past have even offered very discounted business class for flying international during this period.

Depending where you are flying from the airport may even have an international terminal that is separate from the domestic terminals.

Jerrie and I went for 5 thanksgivings to Europe* on the cheap and unless one of our children gets around to inviting us pretty soon we just might make it six. :D

*oneworld considers the middle east to be in Europe

GK Mar 20, 2006 1:04 am

email sent to alex and BEYflyer... paging the rest of you .. let me know where to send directions for friday night ;)

BEYFlyer Mar 23, 2006 3:47 am

GK Mar 26, 2006 11:21 pm

BEYFlyer Mar 27, 2006 2:33 am

GK, thank you for having us at your place; mabrook once again. Had a great time and the company was even better...

Jimmy67 Mar 27, 2006 11:09 am

Thanks GK and BEYFlyer for that nice invitation and thank you all for the great time....
the "band" wasnt that good , for sure...

but Charbel made up for it , hehehe

GK Mar 28, 2006 1:22 am

OK so next time is how far away exactly ? I know that SanDiego1K is planning to come here in late October.. but something before then would be good.

alex0683de Mar 28, 2006 8:13 am

GK, Naji, thanks again for hosting a great do!

I'm now in Germany, and a little worse for wear due to that 03 am departure time, but already I'm trying to figure out when my next chance to head out your way will be.

After the dinner I met a girl at a place on Rue Monot that I would love to see again soon... ;) :D

Oh, and yes, I think we're all agreed as far as the band goes!

Glad you enjoyed your stay in Beirut... You certainly didn't waste any time on Rue Monot now did you :p :D ...

Granted the band was not that fantastic, but believe me, with time, you will learn to channel those awful sounds away and simply listen to those discussions you want to listen to... Give it some time... ;) ...

Jimmy67 Apr 7, 2006 8:48 am

Marking those dates in my calendar... I'll have my people call your people and plan something... :D

GK Apr 13, 2006 12:05 pm

september ? way too far away... BEYflyer.. when are you coming over to our place for some 'laydee' entertainment ?

SanDiego1K Apr 19, 2006 12:34 am

We're tentatively targeting the weekend of September 30. How is the weather at that time of year?

BEYFlyer Apr 25, 2006 6:32 am

Weather should be fantastic by then; just coming out of hot and humid August. Look forward to meeting you SanDiego1K.

SanDiego1K Jul 13, 2006 12:01 am

GK and BEYFlyer, the news accounts of the bombing of the runway of the Beirut Airport are very worrying. Are you all right? Will you be able to fly in and out of the country? Many of us are concerned about you, and would love to hear from you.

BEYFlyer Jul 13, 2006 12:51 am

It ain't fun, I can tell you that much... There are a few discussions taking place on Omni and Travel Safety/Security threads. Check them out...

GK Jul 13, 2006 1:10 am

Well I am in Riyadh. Am planning to fly to Istanbul and sit this out as was heading there for my holiday tonight anyway. Sean however is home in Beirut. He's in contact with our friends and the UK embassy.
