Chicago/ORD 11-9 Dinner/Drinks?

Any folks up for a reprise? I know the Chicago crowd is usually a lunch group, but I'm flying in at 7PM and not out until 1AM, so thought I'd see if anybody wants to get together.
I'll trek downtown or do something near the airport (or somewhere off the Blue Line). Anybody? Paging Sweet Willie and holmedown who already said they might be interested

And yes, Nick, if you want, we can call it a moving party. Otherwise you can come up here this weekend and help throw furniture into the truck :D

YES (best guess as of 8AM CT Wednesday morning)

So, we'll try to grab a table for 6 or 8 :)

Would love to join you, but I"m flying out that day (and possibly into ORD before I fly out  ). BTW, when do you move?

ElmhurstNick Oct 11, 2005 3:56 pm

Unfortunately (for the drinking, not the moving assistance ;)) I'll be in Indianpolis that night as part of a 3-day trip. :(

But I'll catch you in Singapore in April (probably the weekdays 4/26 and 4/27) if I don't see you before you leave.

holmedown Oct 12, 2005 11:23 am

I should be about - anywhere downtown / blue or red line accessible is fine with me.

MKE-MR Oct 27, 2005 2:12 pm

*bump*

Anybody else in Chicago, or are y'all lunch-only people? ;)

ElmhurstNick Oct 28, 2005 10:15 am

My schedule has changed and now I'm flying back on the 9th. I arrive ORD C concourse at 6:47pm.

bseller Oct 28, 2005 11:09 am

To the best of my (current) knowledge, I should be available that evening.....I'm good to go with any place the group chooses, and will keep an eye on the thread....

Best wishes, Dave

blort Oct 29, 2005 5:05 pm

Right now I'm in town on the 9th but that may change, put me down as well.

RichardInSF Oct 29, 2005 5:54 pm

I am around then too, staying at the Hyatt Woodfield (NW 'burbs) but will have a car. Don't know yet if I will get dragged into a company function, but it not, should be free, so I am a "maybe." Prefer someplace with decent (preferably free) parking.

Comicwoman Oct 31, 2005 11:05 pm

I Might be in town

Unsure of other commitments...have a number of people to catch up with and family too. Would someone PM me with the plans? I don't often check the Community threads.

iluv2fly Nov 1, 2005 12:17 am

I am on the 9:10 p.m. flight from ORD to LHR that night.

Where are you flying to at 1 a.m.?

ElmhurstNick Nov 1, 2005 6:58 am

OP needs to change the list to show that I am now confirmed. Isn't Willie confirmed too?

All we need is a place. We can either do Rosemont/Edison Park or we can head a little further into the city, although if iluv2fly joins us for at least a drink before his flight the city won't work.

As long as it is accessible by El/Metra is fine - know the Metra stops at Edison Park as used to stay there a lot ... hmm Moretti's that brings back memories !

Asiana to ICN.

Looks like Nick and I will probably be coming from ORD at the same time, but the preference is still for something transit-accessible. Any locals want to throw a place out. I'm goat-like in my eating habits, so no cuisine is likely to be bothersome to me ;)

Time: 7:30, barring unforeseen delays? Does that leave enough time to get from ORD to Edison park, and still allow iluvmypillows to get a drink with us, should he so desire? :D

Updated original list.

bseller Nov 1, 2005 9:42 am

7:30 is a good time for me, no matter whether you choose ORD, downtown, or some other venue accessible by mass transit...I am relatively "equi-distant"......Food choice should probably default to "Fast Willie", unless someone has a jones for something....

Best wishes, Dave

ElmhurstNick Nov 1, 2005 9:49 am

I'd be willing to drive back through the city to take anybody back, since the Metra service at that time of night is a little spotty.

Don't worry about transit, seeing as I live so close to ORD, you've got a ride to/from ORD.

I would suggest Edison Park, we dined at a decent Italian joint there when Starwood Lurker was in town.

I'll be at ORD too and will drive him over; the transit is for holmedown and other city folks.

That was Zia's. They weren't quite on their game last time, the first time that's happened to me there. The Mexican place over by the Rosemont convention center that ScottC and FightingIlliniUAL joined me at about a month ago would work as well. We get get MKE-MR blasted on margaritas before his Asiana flight. :)

I'm in economy...might need it! :D

<I gotta remember to pack a wristwatch. I don't normally wear one, but I keep one on "local" time for the day or two before I leave, to try and trick myself into a faster Asian acclimation on the other end--so by my clock I'll be starting to drink at about 9AM ^ ;) >

I'm totally fine with either Italian or Mexican, though.

Maria's?

Note also that Maria's is an I-dine restaurant......Maybe they'd be confused when a full table of FT'ers wanted separate checks in order to each pay by credit card!!! :D

So no cocktails at Navy Pier's delightful garden atrium?

MKE-MR Nov 7, 2005 3:51 pm

All right, so was Maria's in Rosemont at 7:30PM the final decision?

Sounds like at least Nick and I will be meeting up at ORD--hope the rest of you can make it!

If you're ok with it, I'm sure that the rest of us are as well.

I think you get in before me. My IND-ORD mainline flights usually land near C30, so we can wave to iluv2leavechicago as he goes through security, catch the ATS over to the E lot, and drive over.

Sounds good. I'll probably be in the RCC with a friend--you want to just call me when you get in?

Gargoyle Nov 7, 2005 7:58 pm

Finally one at a time that should work for me... put me in the Maybe category for now. I'll try to confirm Tuesday. If so, I'll be driving in from the Fox Valley area, can give rides to or from, and if the location is East of ORD I could stop by to pick people up.

So, where and when?

PM me your cellphone number - it was on my phone that the igojuice thing fried.

I'll just wander over to the C17 RCC and look for you. Maybe Mr. Pillows will be around as well.

Move me to the yes column.

How do I recognize the right table, or should I just wave an FT luggage tag around?

Just look for a group of people who can't WAIT to get back on a plane and fly half way 'round the world for a quick bite, then get back on a plane to return. If that doesn't stand out,,,,,,NOTHING will!!! ;)

See you all there!! Best wishes, Dave

Sweet Willie Nov 10, 2005 9:22 am

Good to see everone last night and meet a new FT'er. ^ ^ ^

Dropped MKE MR off at ORD for his 1am flight, good luck!!!!

Bright and sunny out today which reminds me that I was highly jealous of a FT'ers tan last night. ;)

bseller was wearing a White Sox hat !!??!!

That would be the one he picked up prior to his attendance at the first World Series game in Chicago since 1959 !!!! (and for which he was "lucky" enough to pay face value for the tix!!).....

Best wishes, Dave
