I once suggested a Peranakan dinner at Hotel Negara...

I am a possible maybe. I am in SIN that week, but booked to fly SIN-HKG on 6 Aug. Will look at delaying until the next morning ( I have a meeting on the Sunday in HKG at this stage).

Hua Yu Seafood in Upper East Coast road (near Changi) is really nice - esp pepper crab without the hassles of Jumbo or anywhere at east Coast. Also the Kopitiam at 30 Keong Saik Rd (don't go into 28 by mistake) in Chinatown has great food

Hi K,

Yes, some time ago. a good friend of mine is a Peranakan community member and apparently it is the best P restaurant in Singapore.

The reason for my suggestion: since people travel from all around the world for these SIN DOs, they might want to try something other than the otherwise delicious seafood feast.

And Peranakan is 100% Singapore!

Could find out more information soon, if people are interested.

Cheers!

PS we should catch up... nxt week?

Now, that's a good idea ^ ... Have not had it in years when I last had it in Melaka...and Kopitiam stuff (kaya toast, soft boiled egg plus traditional coffee) for brekkies. Hmmm...

Remember, the more the merrier :D I know you are looking at towards the end of Aug, but if you come to Aug 6 Do, you will meet the famous KiwiFlyer with his satays ... :D :D

I wish a special someone out there would be boldly convince me to travel for a date ;) :) :D and I will be gladly flying over there. But right now my SO wants to travel accross America on a caravan starting mid-July. :( So it's quite risky to make commitment for SIN DO Aug 6. Again, you never know. :p

Kiwi Flyer Jun 7, 2005 9:01 pm

 since when did I become famous :td:

I think the point about satays is that you can rub it in when you have them flying over and I dont :(

Diamond Seats Jun 7, 2005 9:14 pm

If I go for SIN DO in Aug, most probably I will take UA, to use my SWUs. So no satay for me this time.

Kiwi Flyer Jun 7, 2005 9:21 pm

I'll put you as a maybe ^

I did get to meet KF in January -- and I have a little stuffed kiwi that he brought the SIN Doers :)
