Anyone going to be in Watertown this Friday night? I will be driving up to take out the early Saturday flight to PIT and then SFO.

William

I guess that's one way of looking at it.

Cookie,

Many wise Flyertalkers have learned not to respond to a thread if they have nothing positive to add. Currently, I'm not so wise.

I might also suggest that you leave the sarcastic answers to the cynical old timers around here. New posters aren't allowed to be sarcastic till they qualify for Omni and Coupon Connection.

No... but I'm doing a turn on Thursday (in and out, bound for Milwaukee) then will be back in Watertown Saturday afternoon and am staying until Monday afternoon.

Well, I am in the PIT USair club as I type.

( I do love the free wireless here and at RIC!)

Today I am RIC-PIT 630am (done)
PIT-ART 915am
ART-PIT 340pm
PIT-LAS 7XXpm (can't rememeber exactly now)

Hoping to pay the $25 and go standby on the 105pm ART-PIT and get on the 400pm PIT-PHL-LAS and get in 3 1/2 hours earlier!

Return Fri 6/22 LAS-PIT-ART 1205pm with layover at the Days Inn
6/23 ART-PIT-ART 630am :(

p.s. If you are in the club, I am the one with the allergies on the iBook.

Wasn't being sarcastic, I was serious. I should have explained myself better.

One way to look at it, is that these extra travelers into Watertown is a "boost" for the local economy.

Another way to look at is that ART is a small airport in which local people (many of them soldiers or their families) utilize so they don't have to drive an hour to SYR. This air service also services the small communities of Ogdensburg and Messina, NY (who are an hour and half and two hours respectively from Watertown). Add in people who are just flying around for mileage purposes, and obviously the end result is people who actually need the flight are not able to utilize the service because it sometimes does not take long to fill up 19 seats when there are 3 airports involved. Also, because of this error in pricing, there are no affordable flights out of Watertown for the next year.

Another note, Watertown is a military town which has seen some additional brigades being added to Fort Drum. THAT is a boost for the economy, for sure!

So you see, I really wasn't being sarcastic; I just didn't elaborate on my opinion.

Of course, everyone is welcome to visit Watertown and take in the sights of the area!

Bump

Anyone going to ART this weekend (8/5)? I'm flying EWR-PIT-ART Friday evening departing Saturday for IAH returning through CLT, DCA and SYR on Sunday because of a schedule change.

Thanks Dan!

I will fly my last ART runs this week but I am already looking forward to a few OSL-PVG trips:D

I am a bit upset because US Airways didn't let me reroute (without repricing) to SYR on a 6 hours INVOL schedule change. Any suggestions?

So, now that it seems a large number of people have done this already, I still don't really see a consensus regarding lodging in the area.

Some people supported the small independent hotel for $60/night, while others went into town. Has anybody just laid out on the picnic table yet as was discussed early on in the thread?

Just looking to evaluate my options for my almost-too-short-to-bother-with-a-hotel overnight layover. :)
