this reminds me

Why do seagulls live by the sea?

If they lived by the bay, we'd have to call them Baygulls. :D

Or as I was told once "Happy Chocka Khan"

There is a store not too far from my home called "Bordo". It is full of different types of gifts, most of them handcrafted decorated items for the house.

I often go there to buy things for my daughter, Used Italian Girlfriend, and ex. While the UIG has never been there with me, my daughter and ex have.

This year, I bought my daughter and the UIG their Hannuka presents in Lugano, but hadn't gotten anything for my ex. I headed to Bordo two days ago to get something for her and when the saleswoman saw me, she asked "Are you looking for something for your daughter or your wife?"

"She's not my wife," I told her. "She's my ex wife."

"Wow!" said the saleswoman. "Can I divorce you, too?"

Dorlee you are invited....anytime. This Brooklyn Hotel welcomes all for holidays and non holidays. Anytime you come to NY I'd be glad to buy you a bialy OR a bagel :)

Thanks for the invite. The last time I was in Brooklyn, was in the early 80's. I was staying at my great-aunt's in Manhattan, and we went to Junior's on Flatbush Ave. just to get one of their cheesecakes. I love Brooklyn!

I hope to meet you in N.Y. or some Flyertalk "do". You can bring the bialys. How have I never had one of these? Canarsie's link was mouth watering.

A somewhat belated Happy Chanukah to all my FT friends!
I honestly think we need a NYC Do to visit all all the little known deli's and bakeries looking for the perfect pastrami, bialy, half-sour pickles, cheesecake and other assorted NYC legends.
There was a very popular Chicago Hot Dog Do recently and we ought to be able to hold a similar event in NYC.
Just food for thought....;).

Sooner or later, Cholula. One of these days. Meanwhile, Dan Hammer's reality tour appears to be an annual event, and I understand that it passes by many of these places. I think I'll get on that tour this year if I'm around.
By the way, Canarsie, I loved the Bell link to the bialy page.

I have been on the Brooklyn Reality Tour and must say it was one of the best excurions that I have ever been on.

Yes, Happy Hannukkah to all!

Chaq Sameach!

All this talk of bagels and bialys is pretty interesting. I went from living a few hundred feet from a Bagel Store in LA to here in the buckle of the bible belt where about the best bagels are at Panera Bread and the city calls their Christmas Celebration " The Festival of Lights" http://www.ky3.com/newsdetailed.asp?id=7075

:o

Monitor,

Consider yourself invited. And just in case you're still hungry at 2:00pm, we make a stop at MarySunshine's house for a snack. ;)

Info to follow on the 2005 tour when Randy announces the date for the Freddies . Hopefully in New York City.

I know I'm invited. Everybody has always been invited to anything Dan puts together, but I have been out of town or tied up somehow for all of the prior Tours.
Having been born and brought up the first ten years in the famous Borough and having lived there when I went to law school, I am really ready to join this group one of these days and, since I am always ready to eat, the 2PM snack at Mary Sunshine's is looking pretty good.
