SF Peninsula dinner 8/11
As I mentioned in another post, I will be in the bay area for the next 4 weeks Monday - Wednesday and would like to know if anyone wants to get together for dinner. My client is located in Redwood City and I usually get off work about 6:30. I am willing to drive up to an hour each way. I do not know the area very well.
1. debua1k, daughter, sister, niece, 2 coworkers & 1 coworker spouse- confirmed 2. KathyWdrf - confirmed 3. Ocn Vw 1K (2) - confirmed 4. RichardInSF 5. Vpescados (2?) For a total of 13 so far. If we add more than 2 more, we will need to increase the reservation Vans sounds great! Lets go there on the 11th of August!!!!! Reservation for 15 people on the 11th at 7 pm has been made. It is under the name of Flyertalk... |
So, that would be which dates? July 26-29, August 2-4, 9-11, 16-18, right?
See if you can get a moderator to edit your thread title for you and add those dates to it. What city will you actually be staying in? RichardInSF, which night are you and your GF thinking of? |
We'd be interested in joining, also. Right in the Redwood City area are a few choices, a very good Italian Restaurant, Siciliano's and a Max's -- both near the CalTrain Station. Haven't been to RWC since the Peterson trial started so don't know the traffic situation. There is a Fish Market nearby at the junction of 101/92 and Palo Alto and Burlingame choices are not more than apx. 15 mins. away.

I'm back east for the Aug 2-4 week, but around for all the other three. I don't think the RWC area is a big problem in the evening if we started around 7 or later. Don't know too much about downtown Redwood City.
We probably should go for someplace fairly easy to find. Amazingly, there is an acceptable restaurant in the Marriott at the intersection of 92 and 101, but even though you can see the hotel from both freeways, it's rather hard to get to. There is, of course, the Max's off of 101 in Burlingame that we have gone to many times. For prime rib, if we are all meat eaters, there is Gulliver's up the street from Max's. I don't know where the branch of the Fish Market mentioned above is, but the chain doesn't take reservations (unless we are a larger group? I dunno?). The Palo Alto choice closest to the freeway is Ming's (Chinese) at the Embarcadero exit. Good upscale Chinese. |

Moderator will you edit the title to include them? I went to the Fish Market the other day and it was wonderful! I would love to revisit it. I stayed at the Marriott last week. Unfortunately it is sold out next week, but I will be there for the other three weeks. The restaurant is good. The chinese sounds great as well. |
So how about we do this during the Aug 9 - 11 time period, and eat at the Marriott at 92/101? Deb will be staying there then, and I guess we can come up with driving instructions.
The charge for parking, but validate if you eat in the hotel. Also, you can generally park on the street right behind the hotel for free. |
Per debua1k, revised the thread title to focus on SF Peninsula and to show the relevant dates. Ocn Vw 1K, Co-Moderator.

Sounds great! It is my bday week, so we can celebrate my day! (I turn 46 on 8/7)
-deb- PS - Thanks Ocn! |
Well then, we better arrange a cake! Anyone have thoughts on whether it should be 8/9, 8/10, vs. 8/11? All three are fine with me.

OK, Monday we may all be too depressed because there's a whole work week ahead, so since no one else is choosing, how about I arbitrarily propose Wednesday, August 11, at the Marriott in San Mateo?
Who's gonna come? |

Who's gonna come? I'm pretty definite for either the 9th or the 11th. |
The 11th it is! Marriott San Mateo. Shall we say 7:00 or 7:30?
|
I should be able to make it as well (I live about 2 miles away).
I am not sure I understand why we are eating at the Marriot though. There is finer cuisine to be had in the San Mateo/Belmont metroplex than the restaurant at the Marriot. ;) |
And count me in for any of the possible dates.
Believe it or not, I think I'm going to be in town until September. No flying. The horror! :) Steve |
