I reserved 2 nights, November 20 and 21. I used orbitz, even though it's a little more because I didn't want to have to pay right now... in case I have to cancel. But I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!

A small price to pay to see Venice and get together with all the FTers again! |
not really...

I don't think I'll owe anything for the cancellation. But what is the difference between single and double rooms? My single said 2 people are allowed. Won't we all be upgraded anyway (or the first few requests until they run out of the better rooms) to the upgraded double? I said 'so does that mean there's no extra charge?' He said there's a charge of 40 euros per nite for the extra person. (I guess that's Dovster's definition of "hefty.") That would be $50 per night. So apparently the "single" or "double" refers to the # of guests in the room. Although my original confirmation email said "Adults: 1", under property policies, it said "base rate is for 2 guests." So I called expedia prepared to pay the $26 for the change fee. But she said they would change my reservation to say 2 adults, for no extra charge. And she promised to send me a confirmation email. She sent me a new email which now says "Adults: 2." I should be all set now. :D TxLobo said he's still waiting for confirmation from DL for the discount. We hope to be able to post it today or tomorrow. |
I think the deluxe cat. room rate stays the same whether you are one or two in there.....
Any chance we can combine the threads on the Venice Meet? |

Yup, that's my definition of "hefty". It would be nothing for upgrading internationally from Coach to B/E, but for having a second person in the room -- which means nothing more than another continental breakfast for the hotel and the use of a little more soap -- it is, indeed, hefty.

Any chance we can combine the threads on the Venice Meet? Actually, I don't want to combine the three threads and purposely did it this way. This thread is for serious questions and serious answers. If we don't do it this way it will soon be impossible to read through it any find any information. (Of course, I am boiling down the solid info and updating the first letter continuously). The Delta thread is full of the usual idiocy that many of us (myself included) like to throw into Meet threads. I would appreciate it if we kept posting such letters there. The "Venice Meet and tales of cashmere" thread on this board is also lighthearted. Hopefully, people will enjoy reading it but they won't get any real info from it. |
Is anyone booked on DL 144 JFK/VCE 18 Nov? Share a water taxi?

Anyone who has never been in Venice will probably want to take a gondola. These are even more expensive than taxis but are a must -- if just for the experience. Gondolas are not normally taken as actual transportation, but just for the ride. You can usually get about 4 people in one for the same price. |
Dovster,
Do you want to start posting arrival & departure dates & hotels on the first post? |
