Spiff, these Dim Sum places don't serve Dim Sum all day unfortunately. As for Harbor Village their hours for dim sum are 10:30 am - 2:30 pm.

BingoSF Jun 3, 2004 10:11 pm

I would second the "very early"

I've always preferred Yank Sing to Harbor Village but I might be in the minority.

Spiff dear, 10:30a.m. PST = 12:30p.m. MST = 1:30p.m. EST.... doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out! :p

Seriously, would you rather that we meet at 1:00p.m.?

Love to join in but that weekend is Stanford graduation and I have assorted relatives and GF's (OK, only one GF) graduating then, so it depends on when all the ceremonies are. Dim sum usually isn't an evening thing -- curious everyone feels Yank Sing is not worthy of mention btw!

Edited to add: Whoops, someone did mention Yang Sing (reminder to me: READ the dang thread, bozo!) :)

Did she finish and submit then? Hope so! How's the lurgy btw?

Good going to RichardinSF's girlfriend!

Wow, that's great, Dick! Not sure if you remember us from the rainy night at Max's, but congratulations to all who are graduating!! Especially your girlfriend! We hope to see you at one of the dim sum places on the 12th. I've never been to any in SF or the Bay Area, so I'm open to try any. I used to go all the time (3-4 times a week) in Boston, but I don't know many folks here who even know what it is, so any place is fine with me. :)

I know, but if Spiff stays out until 4am PST, no matter what time his body clock is normally on, he will not look very well at 1045 PST. ;)

It doesn't have to be as late as 1pm... 12:30pm? :D

She finished enough to have her orals and march in the ceremony. Apparently you can now do that even if you don't submit the final, final draft -- although they keep that piece of paper back until EVERYTHING is done. Current date for that is September.

OK, what the heck is a "lurgy"? I know you don't usually use cockney rhyming slang, but it still eludes me!

Spellbound, sure I remember -- but I just got the official word that my niece's graduation with an MBA from the B-school (you know, a money degree!) is on June 12, so that almost certainly will rule this one out for us. Dang, dimsum is better, but my mom would kill me if I wasn't there when my sister's kid got commenced. Sorry -- someone eat extra dimsum for us!

Car load: five, a bit tight; four, comfortable.

There's nothing I hate more than driving in SF alone (since I rarely go to the city). And I'm within throwing distance of you -- at De La Cruz and Central (North end of SJC). I say if it's just us and the day's nice, we take my car (two seat convertible) otherwise you drive!

I am staying at the San Francisco Hilton and Towers so it should be pretty easy to get to Harbour Village.

Shall we use the number of attendees to gauge our dining time? I am hoping to find some folks who want to go out and play Friday night so super early on Saturday is not all that desirable, though it is doable if it means the difference between Dim Sum and No Dim Sum. :)

Compromise?

How about 12:45? :)

They may kick me out of the Hilton at noon (well, probably not but that's usually the posted kick-out time). Let's go for 12:30 so that we have 2 hours of Dim Sum. :)

You can either walk through the Financial District to the Embarcadero Center, take a taxi, or walk down to Market Street where you can catch either the F-line or the Metro to Embarcadero Station.

birdstrike Jun 7, 2004 9:17 pm

12:30 works for ms. birdstrike and myself.

See you all there!

Thanks for the head's up, belle!
