MSP - Friday, May 14th

Anyone around and interested in meeting for Drinks/Dinner?

I'm in town to watch my nieces circus performance (great activity for kids if you're in that area) but get Friday night off.

Comicwoman Apr 15, 2004 11:36 am

That would be me!

And thanks to SanDiego1K for alerting me to this thread.

Yes, count me in.

Great - any preferences for location?

SanDiego1K = :cool: Thanks!!

I'm 15 minutes from everywhere

I live in St Paul and work near the Mall of America. All in all, I can get nearly anywhere in 15 - 30 minutes. Let's see if anyone else posts. If not, we can take this to email and find a place that work's for both of us and post the result.

Works for me ...

Works for me -- I'm not far from Mall of America or St Paul, for that matter but my geography is sketchy of the area in general. I'll touch base in a couple of weeks.

Hey guys, I've been waiting/hoping for a MinneDo....

... but I just booked travel to HNL for my family and me. I fly in May 13 at 9:30pm, then we all leave May 14 at 9:00am.

Any remote chance something may work out for me??

I might be able to meet you for a drink, but won't know until Thursday.

mspguy Apr 19, 2004 5:37 pm

Sounds good to me. I might be returning to msp from elp sometime early evening on the 14th. I'll know for sure sometime soon.

Great! Any preference for location/area?

btw, where is ELP?

mspguy Apr 23, 2004 8:27 pm

ELP = El Paso, Tx.
There are a lot of choices within the Mall. Maybe there? I'll give it some more thought....

Comicwoman May 2, 2004 3:54 pm

Bringing this back to the top

Since the date is getting closer, I thought I'd bump this up.

Eating at the Mall of America (I was careful not to say dining) would include Famous Dave's BBQ, Bubba Gump, Hooters, Ruby Tuesday, Twin City Grill, and a dozen other places I cannot think of at this time. If we were doing the Mall, I say Famous Dave's for quality/value or Twin City Grill for their extensive list of mixed beverages. But I am more that willing to go anywhere the group decides. Near the Mall there is a smokey Outback Steak house, Chevy's, TGIFridays, and more places I cannot think of.

There is also this diner, urban diner, they call it that is idine. It is www.highlandgrill.com That would be ten minutes north of the Mall in St Paul.

Thanks for providing some choices. I like look of the Highland Grill and it will keep us away from the MOM traffic mayhem. mspguy, will that work for you?

Does 7:30 work to meet for dinner?

Now that the Freddies are over, I'm very much looking forward to my MSP trip and the opportunity to meet more FT'ers :)

Comicwoman May 6, 2004 8:48 pm

7:30 it is

Could I have an RSVP count? I'll check to see if the Grill will take a reservation. The place is small. mspman, if you need a ride from the airport to the grill give me a shout.

If you are in, raise your hand

My sister is a maybe, so put us down for 2 just in case she does decide to join us.

Thanks.

mspguy May 9, 2004 3:45 pm

Guess I should check this thread more often!

I知 interested! I just can稚 say yes until I figure out where I知 going to be on Friday yet. I have yet to figure out on how to be in two places at once! I値l either be coming from ELP or still in MKE. I should know for sure by Tuesday. Typical crazy week. I値l let you know. The place in Highland sounds good to me.

GoingAway May 9, 2004 7:36 pm

Thanks for the update. Hope to see you on Friday. :)

MSY-MSP May 10, 2004 3:44 pm

If I don't have to work that night, then count me in. I have a second job as an on-call bartender at a bar in Chaska. (I have to find a way to fund my travels as biz travel is way down, at least commercial) Should know my schedule tomorrow night.

Comicwoman May 12, 2004 6:13 am

Update and shamelss bump

Well, I have the count at 5 (if everyone makes it from everywhere). MSY-MSP, GoingAway, Sister of GoingAway, mspguy and me. The restaurant does not take reservations, but they did suggest that I call a little after 7:00 for them to hold a table. That should work out.

Post your changes or PM me for my cell number or directions (yeah, like I can help, I just moved here 3 months ago!). The reservation will be under the name "Wendy". Easy for me to remember.

Uggghhh.... so sorry I'll miss it. I'll be so close, sleeping in MSP tomorrow night before heading to HNL with my family.

mspguy, I would have loved to talk with you about ELP!!! One of my favorite cities-- really! Lived there for a bit.

Wendy/Comicwoman, hope you're adjusting to life in the Twin Cities... and enjoying the neighborhood. ;) We'll meet up sometime when I'm in town longer.

GoingAway, I hope you enjoy the weekend in MSP...... may you always find cheap National rates-- both for the airport and for the cars. :)

mspguy May 13, 2004 10:17 am

Darn

I知 not going to be able to make the Do
Sorry to miss the chance to meet you all.
My week has been chaotic!

Ok, that is the bad news. The good news is that the count is now four and that will make getting a table that much easier! mspguy, drop me an email or a Pm sometime and perhaps we can meet up for a beverage.

GoingAway May 14, 2004 11:23 pm

Thanks for coming out to say hello

Comicwoman and msp-msy it was great meeting both of you tonite. I do appreciate the explanation for the Northwest logo. I'll be looking for other posts for MSP dinners, I can always use a good excuse to get back to visit my nieces. Enjoy opening day - both of you

mspguy, sorry we missed you, maybe next time.

Viajero Joven, one day I'll actually catch up with you in MSP. Thanks again for the rental car tips.

Viajero Joven May 18, 2004 4:43 pm

Hi guys,

Glad to hear the MSP meeting went well... I really believe it's the first ever FT gathering in MSP, from what I recall seeing on the boards. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I plan to be in MSP over 4th of July weekend-- barring any $50 SIN fares or things of the like. Will anyone else be in town???

BTW, my MSP time really was hurried: arrived 9pm Thurs. night, had a quick birthday dinner with mom, bought a Cub Foods cake at 11:40pm  barely before the night ended, then we made it to MSP at 7:45am for the flight out. The 4th of July trip will be for more than 12 hours, I promise. ;)

Comicwoman May 18, 2004 7:48 pm

4th of July

I plan to be in town, with it only being a two day weekend. The 5th won't be a holiday for me. Unknown if I have plans, but will keep you in mind.
