I will not be there but the menu is wonderful. It waters my mouth (or how do you say that in English?)... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

This sounds terrific. Was the $155 for the degustation? What was the range for three or four courses without any of the supplements?

Wish I could be there... but I'll try to make the next one after March.

I was at Avenues last evening. The degustation was $105. One can also order ala carte. I had the seared foie gras ($29) - it was stunning. Also had grouper and it was very good ($39). I tasted the Kobe beef - pretty amazing - but at $72! it should be.

The desserts were good, but not great. I had the thyme parfait and merengue. Another person, who had the degustation, had a kumquat cake (don't remember what the menu called it) with fig ice cream. The ice cream was fine, but the kumquat flavor of the cake was very intense (I loved it).

The bill for four (one had degusation, the others ordered off the menu) with two glasses of champagne (two of us had ordered martinis in the bar and carried them to the table - $29 total), one bottle of wine, appetizers (3) entrees (3) and desserts (3) was about $550.

Two weeks a few FT'ers went to lunch with Rudi for his birthday, in a tiny village in Alsace France. Set menu.

Waiter bought a bottle of different local wine with every course. The bill BEFORE tip was 1000 EUROS - not dollars. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

We DID take 4½ hours over it though. Wonderful experience. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif
