Yoosh, we need your e-mail address to invite you. Signed up a while ago, but no time for friends. Same e-mail address as in my profile.

Thanks boilermaker and G2 for the invites. Just registered, and will be adding friends shortly when I get a chance.

Friendster is like classmates.com for free, but you're not just limited to people you went to school with!
I use friendster to keep in touch with people whom I lost contact with -- some childhood friends from my days in MNL, BKK, SIN, YUL (where I spent my childhood)... so you get the idea.
Anyway, add me up if you have a friendster account: peng19 at yahoo

You can say that again- I have 15 connections to him (all at the max. degrees of separation) even though I don't have any flyertalkers listed among my friends.

It's a social networking site, kinda based on the "6 degrees of separation" concept. Each person on it has a profile page, where you can add pictures and basic personal info (hometown, favorite music/books/movies, interests,etc.). You can also post bulletin board messages visible to your friends, or friendster-mail people in your network.

However, you can only see the profiles of people who are connected to you by several degrees (current- friends, friends-of-friends and friends-of-friends-of-friends).

So to use bhatnasx as an example (hope he doesn't mind http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif ) -

Above, I mention that I have 15 connections to him- we don't have any direct connections, but there are 15 instances where friends I have on Friendster have linked to friends of his.

So, I have 15 links to him shown as:
landspeed-landspeed's friend- bhatnasx's friends-bhatnasx

So, while I can see his profile, I can't see the profiles of his friends that I don't have connections to otherwise, as they are outside of my network.

Mayby that explanation hurt more than it helped....

The e-mail address in your profile doesn't show up as a Friendster member...

bhatnasx, I've Friendster mailed you. Hopefully there should be someone I like amongst the 37,000 people!</font>
As a fellow Brit, Fraser, I've added you to my friendster list; the concept seems really dorky and nerdy in the UK, but seems to going down a storm in the US. As such, I only add my American friends to it - I'd never ask my local friends to sign up! But the trouble is I only seem to have four friends!

hmmm, think I once went through some of your holiday snaps when I was killing time, so I'm defining that as 'friend!'. I've also got lots of cute American women linked to me, so you can browse through in case you ever get bored of your girlfriend http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

It is - I agree - but it surprising. I ended up re-connecting to a girl that I spent a summer in Oxford with when I was 17 & another girl that I was best friends with from ninth to eleventh grade with. Of course, there are negatives as well, some girl from college that I used to hang out with that I don't really like recently contacted me...so the question is - make the connection or just pretend it never happened? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

If you ignore it, they may get the hint and then start stalking you.
