Well, that'll teach me to post something assuming the chances with Priceline are remote. Got the 4-star Concorde Hotel at $40 for the nights of 1/15, 16 and 17, so I will be staying there. Looks like it's kinda northwest of Chinatown, but I can still be at the Conrad at the appointed time Saturday.

Looks like the biddingfortravel reviews of the Concorde are decidedly mixed, but I'm just not used to getting 4-star at $40 and hope the glass is more half-full than half-empty.

Itinerarywise, I'll be on DL 55 leaving ATL at 10:05 a.m. Jan. 13, arriving NRT 2:25 p.m. Jan. 14, then on NW 11 leaving NRT 6:20 p.m. arriving SIN 1:05 a.m. Jan. 15. Will probably just stay in airport 1/15.

Won't be heading back to ATL until mid-March. Will head up through Malaysia & Thailand, then over to Philippines, then on an award sidetrip from MNL to Majuro and Yap. Am really excited about going to Yap over Yap Day.

Am also looking forward to this!

*sobbing* I'm doing a run to qualify for triple miles and will be in LON that day! D*MN! IF CXleverage had priced this out with a decent D fare I would've been SERIOUSLY torn but as it was it was $7k. *sigh* I'll be with y'all in spirit.

UA has ORD-SIN on Wed 1/14 - Tue 1/20 VXSP33 $681.19 ($733 fare, $789.19 ticket, 15% off).

Sorry I won't be able to join you guys. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif Headed to Rome and Florence 1/12-1/20 on a $311 CO ticket, courtesy of BA's $99 sale in November.

I was checking weather.com and it seems to be pretty warm year round, What is the appropriate dress for day and evening in the city? What would be appropriate for tea on sunday and dinner on Saturday?

Thanks!

Just wanted to find out if anyone is coming to SIN from SYD or AKL for the DO? I'm flying from AKL to SYD and onward to SIN the 16th and returning same routing on the 19th.

Looking forward to meeting everyone...

Hot, humid, even way into the wee hours of the night. I hate it.... :P

There may still be quite a bit of rain, so be prepared for sudden showers or even non-stop rain.

btw, I just realised that Chinese New Year is 22/23 Jan, which means that seafood is going to be more expensive than usual and not as good..... a lot of merchants are hording the good stuff for reunion dinners.

Despite the fact that SIN is a business type city, most of the people dress pretty casually. While I didn't see too many shorts, lots of women wore capri type pants, loose tops, linen, silk, cotton blouses, with sandels. Last year I brought a pair of slacks & jeans, the jeans were too heavy and this year I'll bring the slacks & capri's. A light sweater rather than a jacket would be good as well. Even for tea at Raffles, a nice blouse & slacks would be fine.

Now regarding Sat's dinner at Jumbos-- keep in mind you'll be eating crabs (and other foodstuffs) by hand, seating is outdoors (no a/c & humidity running about 95%) with the sandy beach only steps away, so casual/ cool is the only way to go--
But as stated above, keep an umbrella handy at all times! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Gosh...I am tempted. The NW fares are a little high and 6 day min stay. Maybe a nested run would justify the time out.

Cool. There will be a good little crowd gathered. Check the meeting rooms (or many of us have tags that will be displayed if we are not in a room) off to the right in the RCC or have me paged.

Catch you soon,

Mike
