I'm pro-food, so I'm in for dinner both Saturday and Sunday.
I must also admit to being pro-mouse - I'm at the Old Key West resort right now but would relish a return visit in the fall for a FT DO. I have lots of theories regarding optimizing your visit by staying at the "correct" resort, so we'll have lots of dinner conversation available. Actually, maybe that means that no one will want to sit next to me... |

I made a Priority Seating (Disney-ese for reservation) at 8:30PM at 'Ohana for Sunday night. I can make a reservation for other places if anyone else has a suggestion. It's free to make reservations and we can decide that day what we would like to do. I just hate not having ressie for the park restaurants on such a busy weekend. Any suggestions for a Universal area restaurant on Sunday?

At a minimum, it's piped onto the grounds of the resort. You may also be able to see the floating parade that visits each resort along that lagoon. I'm not sure of the time - and the name has completely escaped me. I still don't know if I can make dinner, but at a minimum I'll most likely be able to join you afterwards. We may be in the Magic Kingdom that night and will return to our room afterwards. Mary |

My family won't ALLOW me to attend this "Do"; the selfish folk want to visit family in Vermont instead.. Jeesh. Might I suggest one of the restaurants on Citywalk? Margaritaville is an old fav. Certainly not gourmet, but good food in a great atmosphere for getting together, plus an easy walk home to the Universal hotels. Can't remember many of the others, but the party atmosphere could go on half the night over there. Another thought is one at Downtown Disney, with an optional visit to Pleasure Island afterwards. LOTS of great restaurants over on the new side. My last suggestion for groups is over at the Boardwalk Resort in WDW. It's called Tapas and serves exactly that: Lots of stuff to pass around.
One last note: If you are planning to drive and park at the Poly for O'Hana, make sure everyone who drives KNOWS the name that the res is under, or you might have trouble parking there (they will make you park in the TTC lot and take the trams, then the monorail over). Also, make sure someone in the car has a Disney Hotel ID or a pass on hand to pass through the parking gates (you have to go through them to get to the Poly) or they will make you pay for parking. I keep plenty of old resort IDs on hand for this purpose and might have some spares if anyone needs them; since you just flash them at the gate, the expired dates have never mattered. Just telling the gate guy/gal that you have a dinner res might work too, never tried this. Don't ask me how I know this stuff; its embarassing how much I know about getting around WDW..... edited to add: Will someone take a ride on The Hulk for me??? I have yet to find a roller coaster that I love sooooo much. Robin [This message has been edited by Fishbait (edited 05-13-2003).] |
Just tell them that you are dropping or picking up a guest at the Poly. I went for drinks couple weeks ago and worked without problems. You can have the drinks at the Polynesian and then walk to the lake where you could see the fireworks very good. With the monorail you can do hotel hopping and have a drink in each different one. I'm pretty sure I can make it Sunday night for dinner and for a day at Universal, I can't on Saturday since I have a MR for that day.
There are plenty of good restaurants here in Orlando, one of my favorite is Del Frisco. Only problem is far from Universal and expensive. Bahama Breeze is good to go friday evening where the after work crowds gather together for drinks and apetizers. Even though I live here, I have a long time I don't visit disney parks, I just go to downtown disney for the movies from time to time. |
