The Chat Game II

Here comes round 2, please see the original thread
 • The object of the game is to collect "signatures" from the "regulars" in the FT Live Chat room.
 • The game will begin at 12:00am GMT on January 6, 2003 (8:00pm EST 1/5) and conclude at 11:59pm GMT on February 2, 2003 (7:59pm EDT 2/2).
 • For the purposes of this game, there will be ten (10) regulars that will offer signatures for the game. Eight (8) of those are listed below. The other two are "secret" regulars and will give their signature out to people that they feel are participating. Note that I have picked a diverse group of people (from 4 different continents), so participants in any time zone can play.
 • In order to be eligible for a prize, you must obtain the signature (which is a 4 digit number) from as many of the ten regular members as you can.
 • In order to obtain the "signatures" of the regulars, you must enter the chat room and actively participate in the discussion for a little while. It is up to you to ask each regular for their signature, and up to each regular to provide it when they feel that you have been in the chat for a while.
 • You may (and probably will) have to visit a few times to obtain all the required "signatures."
 • When you have obtained all ten signatures (or as many as you can), you must list them in an email, and email them, along with your full name and FT Handle to mailto:[email protected][email protected]</A>. This email must arrive by 12:00 noon Eastern Daylight Time on February 3, 2003.
 • If no one is able to obtain all the required signatures, then all entrants with the most signatures will be entered into the drawing to be the winner.
 • All entrants with all ten correct entries will be entered into a random drawing to be declared the winner.
 • There are no prizes as of yet, unless someone wants to donate prizes, in which case, the winner(s) will be able to select a prize.
 • All registered Flyertalk members as of January 4, 2002 are eligible, with the exception of the ten regulars and anyone that is disqualified for cheating, bribery, etc.
 • Please email mailto:[email protected][email protected]</A> for any questions, comments, or rules clarifications.

Here are the eight regulars...

LastClass
ldsant
missydarlin
mjm
Mr.Staralliance
ScottC
techgirl
wharvey
Good Luck!

That should read:

This email must arrive by 12:00 noon Eastern Standard Time on February 3, 2003.

Sorry for the confusion.

MB,

I believed a certain person in the toy business donated some cool keychains for the last contest.
He may consider contributing again...IF ASKED. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Of course, Mark will only know that you bribed me if I tell him. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I like Belgian or Swiss chocolate, fine wines and champagne, and (befitting a TAP) jewelry and flowers.

great idea mark!! great loyalty scheme to get more people into the chat room.... maybe Randy should offer 5 AA points per day, per active login of 60 minutes or more...!

markbach Jan 6, 2003 8:23 pm

Those of you that missed chat tonight missed an in depth review of the day's events in the aviation world, thong jello wrestling with techgirl and mashav, an analysis of UA's financial situation, discussion of Joe Millionaire, tips for getting upgraded, and at least four signature opertunities.

And it's only 10:30pm! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

techgirl Jan 8, 2003 5:36 pm

What? No prizes yet?

Okay... I'll start. 4 UA Drink Coupons.

Oh... and rumor is that I *might* be giving out my signature in chat tonight.

Whether or not we have be-thong-ed jello wrestling depends on who shows up... so don't take a chance of missing it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

KathyWdrf Jan 8, 2003 5:49 pm

Will there be any MALE thong jello wrestling?

Maybe when the entertainment and/or the prizes become more interesting, I will be inspired to participate!

EG, you have two months to have a drink with 4 flyertalkers and get their signature.

Come to New Orleans and you become the winner. Is that the basic game you play? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Maybe if you hadn't played so hard-to-get you would have had more requests!

The only time I saw you on chat, you escaped before I even had the chance to get your sig! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Kathy,

I think many people here can attest I spend WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too much time in chat!

I believe I was there long enough for anyone to ask for my passcode.... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

William

KathyWdrf Feb 7, 2003 11:05 pm

Well, Mark, are you going to publish the winners' names and prizes, or do we have to send in a SASE?

I'd really like to know who won the one billion dollar prize -- even if it ISN'T me!

Kathy http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

markbach Feb 8, 2003 6:48 am

I got so many entries, it's taken me a long time to sort through them. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

No, seriously, I've been very busy at work this week; sorry about that.

I only received 2 entries, so each participant will receive a prize: a keychain generously provided by dhammer53. Please contact him directly to claim your prize.

The winners are...
KathyWdrf
tlglenn

KathyWdrf Feb 8, 2003 10:19 pm

Wow, I'm really impressed with myself for winning a contest in which I was one of two entrants! And even more impressed that both of us entrants won! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

But I'm shocked and dismayed that I only get a keychain instead of a monetary reward. I admit that expecting one billion, or even one million, US dollars was somewhat out of line. But c'mon -- doesn't anyone have any loose change lying around? Costa Rican colones, Turkish lira, or even old obsolete currencies such as Netherlands guilders, Greek drachmas, Irish punts? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Kathy

LastClass Feb 8, 2003 10:56 pm

Kthy, I'd be more than happy to send you a Malaysian ringgit -- that's an MYR 1 banknote, approximate value 26 U.S. cents -- except that I have only one. This means:

* If I gave it to you, I wouldn't have any left for my Collection o' World Currencies, and

* I wouldn't be able to give one to tlglenn, who deserves it just as much as you do.

Sorry about this, but I hope you understand. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Sorry about delay Kathy. Mailed Tuesday. I needed Reserve Bank approval first you understand, and that took time to get the paperwork done.

Oh, and the I.R.S. wanted me to fill out a few complicated forms in triplicate as well. You may hear from them one of these days.

Nothing cheap about us ozzies ... I was in such a good mood Tuesday I tossed in a few extra million! Oh, Kathy that IRS man who phoned me this afternoon asked what your Social Security number was. He sounded pretty thick so I said you had given me 987654321. I am sure he will not pick up on that. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

KathyWdrf Feb 21, 2003 10:46 pm

ozstamps, I got the loot! Thanks a million! I mean, thanks millions!

KathyWdrf's Chat Game Prizes including Two Million US Dollars

I took the two bills to the bank today and tried to deposit them. Unfortunately, they were going to put a one-year hold on them. So I returned home to think about it and come up with a different plan. Five minutes later I got a call from the FBI! I played dumb though. So far so good. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

C'mon Kathy, for you that was not very difficult ... surely? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Hey ..... why am I getting the sneaky feeling these great scans are looking like they might become ready-made eBay lots any moment?????

One was "mint" and one was well crumbled and 'well used' I hope you noticed. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

KathyWdrf Feb 22, 2003 1:20 am

Well, I guess I'm learning there ARE strings attached! I have to take abuse from ozstamps for the rest of my life!

Ebay, huh? How much do you suppose I could get? I know, I know. The "well-used" one is worth less than the "mint" one. Even I (a non-numismatist) know that! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif
