Estonia is a great place to visit. Everything is still on a reasonable scale. The airport is still useable, the people are friendly, The old city at Tallinn is great to just walk around (but avoid cruise ship days). Language can be a problem; older people tend not to speak English, but just a few words in Estonian go a long way. I will also be in Estonia this summer - but in Tartu and Viljandi - they have great music festivals. You will really enjoy your visit in Estonia.

Bruce: Tartu is very nice too, pretty little old town and the prices are even lower than in TLL. If you're in the Baltics and interested in song & dance festivals, be sure not to miss the Latvian Song and Dance Festival in Riga.

I'll be going to HEL with a side trip to Tallin in late April (Easter weekend). I know the jetcat/hydrofoil's run on a season basis-- does anyone know if they'll be running then, or will I have to take the slower ferry across?

I am not able to confirm, but I am pretty sure, that the JetCats are in service beginning of the End of March. As the Easter weekend is in late April next year, you should on the save side. If a day trip is your option, I would skip it, if you have to be on a ferry boat (OW travel time. More than three hours).

Maybe these links are for any help:

You shouldn't have a problem. Jetcats only stop running when the seas are covered in ice. By late March ice is gone and jets happily running again.

On a sidenote, Copterline has last minute bookings for a mere 49euro each way. And the flight is just 18 minutes!

Spider, where does copterline depart/arrive?

Spider Dec 2, 2002 10:42 pm

In Tallinn Copterline arrives and departs from Linnahall terminal. It is the same terminal that Lindaline hydrofoils use. It is only a few minutes from the city centre.

In Helsinki it uses Helsinki Heliport which is located at Hernesaari and is serviced by buses #14B and #16. Very close to the city centre.
