Giants tickets???

So in past eyars mr. squeakr worked for a small company with season tix so we had a chance to buy WS tickets (not like it's happened in ages but we could have...)

this year we both have new jobs and no contacts with anyone...and we're more broke so scalpers are not an option....

anyone willing to talk to me about tix for any of the 3 SF games please email....

I am a longtime Giant fan (OK, in a former life I was a red sox fan....) and was AT game 3 of the 89 series...I mr. squeakr and I would dearly love to attend one more WS game in our lifetimes....

thanks all...

I thought you might be looking for NY Giants football tickets! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

A FEW WS tickets go on same on the SF Giants Internet site tomorrow (Wed. 10/16) at 10 am sharp. These are at list price, starting, I believe at $60, + probably service charge(s). It will be tough, but perhaps worth a try.
Sorry, I don't have the actual URL, but you can probably get it from one of the search engines, such as GOOGLE.
Good lick!

7000 tickets will be on sale tomorrow at 10 am on the Giants website and via phone. The other 7000 will be sold at Pacbell park, but they are spoken for. They handed out 1750 wristbands yesterday to determine the queue. Limit is 4 per person. After doing the math it seems that if everyone who got a wristband shows up they will get 4 tickets.

Further to my reply above. At 10 am Pacific time, got to www.sfgiants.com, and click on tickets. There will be 10's of thousands of people trying to do the same thing, so good luck!
Typo in my note above, tickets go on SALE....

squeakr Oct 15, 2002 10:16 pm

thanks for all the detail but of course I know abt the phones and website....and as with the playoffs, I was not able to get in by phone or web. hence my request for a huge favor still stands......

sawsmanfc Oct 15, 2002 11:42 pm

Try again tomorrow, Thursday 10/16, 10 am Pacific Tiem. World Series tickets (what's remaining) go on sale then.

What about "good lick" ?

Sorry, couldn't resist. Seriously, I hope you die hard fans get your tix! There is nothing quite like playoff baseball, and PacBell is wonderful. (Saw my first game there last year when Bonds hit #58 into the Bay!).

It seemed like Internet tickets went on sale a few minutes early, around 9.54am Pacific. I've been trying since then to get a batch of four (I'll be with non-FTers). Of the three or four times I've gotten as far as the "select price level" screen, I've not yet been able to get through to the next screen after that. AAARRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHH! I HATE THE DAM.N INTERNET!!

As of this moment, tickets still seem to available for all three games (3, 4 and 5*).

Finding four tickets is near impossible. Even most season ticket holders only have 2.

LastClass Oct 16, 2002 1:13 pm

Sold out as of now. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

You're telling me. I got through to that screen 11 times in all, but was never able to purchase tickets. Tickets.com was not quite ready for primetime on this one. It was very frustrating to think that I maybe was able to get tickets...and then %#@&*, nope!

AAAARRRRGGGGHHH!

I gave up trying to get tix since I ended up in the Virtual Room trying to get DS tix. Everybody at work today was cursing about the Virtual Room. I just laughed.

Hundreds of thousands of furstrated fans trying to get WS tickets via the internet yesterday. From today's SF Chronicle:

ONLINE TICKETING TURNS OFF
Fans trying to buy World Series tix on the Web experience timeouts, teases and, ultimately, frustration.

So were any FT'ers able to get any of these tickets?

Nope, not this one http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif-

kluau88 Oct 18, 2002 8:55 am

Was able to get at Pacbell.

SFOJFK Oct 18, 2002 9:19 am

Have a blast!!!! Plus, you're a big Giants fan too.

I've seen Cal Ripken break the streak, been to a bunch of ALCS, ALDS games for the Yanks, but I still haven't been to a World Series. Everyone I've talked to who has been says it a magical thing. Isn't October great?

Have fun. Did they let you keep your same season tix seats? There are no bad seats really in PacBell.

I was thinking that an SWU would be a decent exch value for a ticket

it's all in how you look at it...I would give one(s)up if I had them....but I was also hoping someone might have company , business or connections or whatever that they could see 2 for not much over face....

unagi1 Oct 18, 2002 12:12 pm

Yes, I thought there would have been some horsetrading on tickets by now. I do see the prices for tickets softening on Ebay though, vis a vis yesterday.

VolleyballFerd Oct 18, 2002 2:33 pm

There was one person offering to pay face value, plus 70,000 UAL miles for a pair of tickets to an Anaheim game.

I would do that if it was an FT'er I knew...I am just loath to get UAL tickets for someone I don't know and then be stuck w/ counterfeit WS tix....

VolleyballFerd Oct 18, 2002 7:42 pm

By the way - any of you who would really like a ticket - things occasionally pop up. I just called Ticketmaster, and got a great single seat for Game 2 - lower view between bases, front row.

It never hurts to give a call.

I couldn't agree with you more. I don't know about the Angels WS tickets, but the Giants ones are barcoded. No stub is torn off so there's no way of knowing whether the tickets are still good. They are validated with a barcode reader at the gate.

Same with Lakers/Clippers/Kings and events in LA.

I saw the deciding game six of the Yankees-Braves World Series in New York in 1996.

magic111 Oct 19, 2002 1:56 pm

I saw the giants play the last time they were in a world series. They lost in four stratight in the longest world series ever.

Yeah, but the Giants didn't have a Bonds/Santiago punch like they do now! Also, the '89 A's were awesome! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

I've seen every excuse...need to pay for college tuition, need to pay for my new car, need to pay for next year's season tickets...and of course the well-worn rationale -
"it's what the market will bear."

OK I'm an ex-hippie with alot of those old-order values but - how sad that a lot of true fans like me don't even have a chance....
