Angels in the Playoffs?

I know this has nothing to do with miles - but maybe there are some OC Flyertalkers out there with an extra ticket or 2 to the Angels Division series.

Sorry Missy Darlin - the M's put up a very good fight http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

doc Sep 26, 2002 6:03 pm

Yes, you'd surely expect 'em to be in the playoffs - for awhile at least! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

They'd be facing my beloved, 26 time World Champion, New York Yankees of course! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

May the best team win! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Enjoy! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Disney Hires Broker to Sell Playoff - Bound Angels

On the day the Anaheim Angels clinched a playoff berth for the first time in 16 years, the Walt Disney Co. hired an investment bank to market the baseball team and the Mighty Ducks hockey franchise to potential buyers.

They play the first two in New York, right? Well at least Angel fans will be able to see one home playoff game before they go home for the winter. Why can't we just eliminate the California Angels and the Twinkies now? Then we can get on to watching the real series - Oakland vs. New York!

TrojanHorse Sep 27, 2002 3:47 am

Sportscenter just said, that since 1996, the Halo's have the best record of any team in baseball against the NYY

I've got A's playoff tix for the entire series. I bought them with a guy from work. I wanted the Angels to win the division so the Yanks would come to Oakland in the first round. I always keep telling my friend that we're getting our money back for the rest of the games in the ALDS plus the ALCS and the World Series.

Anyway, go Yankees!!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

stimpy Sep 28, 2002 11:12 am

I think we are going to have a West coast ALCS. Their had better be a lot of large planes ready to fly from SNA to OAK. That one will definitely be a 7 gamer.

gregseattle Sep 28, 2002 11:21 pm

Go Twinkies!

ps: hi TMKen

Left coast people are dreamers. But, in any case, JetBlue will a winner; but there will be a max of only two round trips!

For the World Series, lets wait and see.

It's probably because Chuck Finley was so overpowering against NYY for ANA, before he went to the Indians (and now the Cardinals).

I just want Anybody except the Yankees to win! (Sorry, Doc!)

Sorry to upset you dear; but you know who will win.

I'll be enjoying the game tomorrow from 'the shrine'. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I really don't care for baseball therefore I do not know very much about it but I do know the Yankee's will not beat the Angels.

I've just bought tickets from eBay for the Friday and Saturday games in Anaheim. I hope I won't have to use the Saturday tickets. Anybody else going to be there?

Go Yankees!!!!!!!!!! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Only if you have an extra ticket - and if you refrain from wearing Yankee gear http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

wingless Oct 2, 2002 6:55 pm

VolleyballFerd If you know any Yankee fans you know that they always wear their Yankee gear and most likely they will be screaming at the top of their lungs about all the bad calls.

[ducking once again]

Hmmm....Angels won tonight.

<wham>

not ducking low enough

<ouch>

I am sorry!

As a Chicagoan, of course I am for the underdog. Go ANGELS!

Well, Paula, in the end you got the same things as the Cubs. Nothing. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

TravelWeary Oct 3, 2002 1:19 pm

Whoa there, Jeff. Let's not compare the Cubs' 67 wins this season to the Mariners' 93!
============================================
I cheer for two teams only -- The Mariners and anybody playing the Yankees!!
(Thanks Tom911!)

stimpy Oct 3, 2002 4:04 pm

In fairness it should be noted that Wingless and the Angels are co-workers. But I agree that the Angels want it more, are playing better, and Mystique and Aura are just names used by women at strip clubs. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Did anyone notice that it's all California teams winning now? A's, Angels and Giants. We can't do anything about the Cards and D-Backs though.

SFOJFK Oct 4, 2002 7:42 am

Does anyone know what the weather is like at Edison for a night game? It has to be better than PacBell or the coliseum. Will a fleece do or will I have to bring the sweatshirt too?

VolleyballFerd Oct 4, 2002 9:02 am

I wouldn't expect it to be too cold - certainly not like S.F. I checked the weather in the Times and it was for a high of 80 and low of 54.

I'll look for you there, if I get a ticket. I'm thinking of going down and just trying to find one - still no FTers with an extra http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

wingless Oct 4, 2002 9:18 am

It's a sunny beautiful day today and it is suppose to be even nicer tomorrow. Wear short sleaves and bring a light jacket, fleece or sweatshirt.

My son wore shorts and a t-shirt to school at 8am.

On Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium, Kevin Appier was averaging 47 seconds between pitches. The game lasted 4 hours and 11 minutes, concluding at 12:31 a.m. What's the Major League Baseball rule, if any, for time allowed between pitches?

From Major League Baseball Rules - on MLB.com

Rule 8.04
"When the bases are unoccupied, the pitcher shall deliver the ball to the batter within 20 seconds after he receives the ball. Each time the pitcher delays the game by violating this rule, the umpire shall call "Ball." The intent of this rule is to avoid unnecessary delays. The umpire shall insist that the catcher return the ball promptly to the pitcher, and that the pitcher take his position on the rubber promptly. Obvious delay by the pitcher should instantly be penalized by the umpire."

Since Appier had people on base most of the time, there would be no rule about those situations. And I've also never seen this rule enforce.

Just got home from the game - sorry Josh, I left home without your seat locations - and sorry you flew down to see 2 losses. But it was the most electric crowd I've ever been part of.

Go Angels, some more!

stimpy Oct 6, 2002 5:35 pm

OK, I predicted Angels & A's, but I'm glad the Twinkies won since the Angels can easily beat them and head on to the Series against...Atlanta!

I'm heading to Atlanta in a couple of days. Does anyone have a ticket connection there?

Since when is this "connection" necessary in ATL? Have you tried the window and/or ticketmaster? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Good point Doc. We'll see how many people show up tomorrow for game 5. I would think that the seats will be full for the rubber match, but it is Atlanta. <shrug>

newself Oct 6, 2002 9:56 pm

You just have no idea how much I wanted to start calling people while I was up in YYZ and watching the game! I had the company tickets for Saturday night but since I was out of town, my customers went with my co-worker.

What a weekend! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
