Well! The things that go on when your back is turned! To think that I'm on someone's Most Wanted List, and I did not even know!
This is an impossible and unfair task as when you pick 5 (some of us obviously have difficulty counting up to 5, but that's another story)because by default others may think that they are forgotten, or even unloved. I give notice that anyone who posts over at British Airways is someone that I hope to meet. So I will atempt the challenge in no particular order, and this is a backhanded snub to nobody), but I know that this will cause trouble, so I will not count to five I will just mention those who I would really like to meet (who knows maybe I have met some of you if you were flying with us). 1. Merry (a true Brit with the worst diet and a really good heart under all the bluster). this is a man who can make me smile having been to the hairdresser and had to look at myself in a mirror. 2. BlairVanHorn. Dry, droll, and able to link threads to anything glam and gorgeous. 3.Celebrian. Be3cause he's adorable 4.ScottC (I'm so used to giving them my pet names that I have to think to remember their handles) for the same reason. 5.bbinchi (should that not be bbinsea?) for reaons that are well known to him 6.RDURES1. You all know why. 7. SarahWest Bravo Sarah! I've read you and of you. You are simply insprirational. 8. Mr Randy Peterson who every so often pops in to British Airways to tell us to mind our Ps and Qs in such a way that no one could possibly take umbrage (Please come and see us a bit more often when we are being good 9or at least trying to). 9. ThaDoctA 10. Mikein Sin No no, I can count but if I do not stop here I never will! |
In alphabetical order
777Brit dhammer53 fewmiles Gaza ORDNorth The_Banking_Scot have all given advice which has saved me time or money, helped with miles and upgrades or offered a tip which has otherwise improved my quality of travel. These folks have a beer coming should we have the opportunity to meet. It would also be most interesting to have a conversation with Carfield Seat 2A techgirl as your trip reports read like a good book. There's many more, but I tried to keep the list short. |

So when you want to meet most of the FT universe how do you narrow it down? My short list :
PEACHESBB - Because she's just diiiiivine, MMmmmmkay? Randy - 'Cause I'd love to meet the daddy of this place Pucci Galore - Because she's dynamic enough to chat with for an entire 12 hour flight and never get bored Merry - The man, the myth, the legend http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif SanDiego1K - Because she's incredibly kind and a lot of fun Techgirl - I'm a JAP, she's a TAP, 'nuff said. FlyCOToSeeTheYanks - I just GOTTA know if he's that annoying in person Darren - The guy who got me started on RTWs and a genuinely great guy to boot JonNYC - My fellow convert B747-437B He's an aviation tool, I'm an electronics tool... we're a toolbelt! ScottC : The only guy I know who has more and better toys than I do! but to be honest, there are very few FTers I DON'T want to meet. [This message has been edited by kanebear (edited 06-14-2002).] |

I've been hesitant to post a list of five FTers I'd like to meet because it's nearly impossible to narrow down a list to five.
Some of the responses make me wonder if some are taking this a bit too seriously too. Part of my hesitation to post a list is because there is a danger that a list of "five FTers I'd like to meet" could get misinterpreted or overinterpreted or taken too seriously and become potentially as inflammatory as if I were to post a list of "five FTers I don't want to meet". Believe me, I have good candidates in mind for both lists. Seriously. But I don't think it is in good spirit to post them. It's waaaaay more fun if you all have to guess who I want to meet and who I never want to meet. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Or perhaps I am the one who is taking this all too seriously? Does it count if I only have met 5??
GK - how about another drink @ Quarks? "I hope my father doesn't see me in this dress.. it's his!" B747-437B - Thanksgiving dinner @ Terribles Casino... :P Iluv767 - Even flew to Reno in F w/ me on one of my runs to Tahoe :-) Poor lad took 1D.. bless his soul! He let me have the aisle! UAX-SFO - surprise! Guess who? :P FlyerAl - I said NO! and I brought one over to flyertalk.... UATriStar - remember arguing over how bad I thought TWA was 5 years ago? :P |
My turn, in no particular order:
Merry Pucci! Kanebear (even if I didn't make it in Mr Meatman's list http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif); FewMiles; chexfan; geo; Rudi etc, etc, etc... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif |

Great Thread! Just learned about it tonight in chat.
Since nobody else is willing to impose order on their lists, I'll step up to the plate and put mine in a particular order (geographic, from west to east) http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Can't pick just 5, but what's wrong with a top 10 list? [This message has been edited by robb (edited 06-08-2002).] |
I want to meet everyone in this thread that wants to meet me http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif
I'd love to meet Paul Palmer, Pucci Galore and Merry (all BA) and I'd like to meat Kanebear. Last but not least I'd love to meet Randy. I've been to a couple of do's and have had the pleasure of meeting so many of you already. |
Wonderful thread sister Ling! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Have been lucky to meet countless Flyertalkers, and even made wonderful friends along the way but there are so many others I also want to talk to and see including: Bernie: Since I can never find the time to Make his Dusseldorf dos. Empress: touched that you would want to meet me as well. JonNYC: after three years and living a Path Train ride from each other still haven't met! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif KaneBear: Although I'm crushed that I did not make your "Meat"... I mean Meet list! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif Arturo: I promise NOT to reveal your true personna to ANYONE! Really! :0 Cozamel Jen: Anyone who has a love for cats I would love to have as a friend. Pudding Guy: We share the same birthday so we Capricorns have to get meet face to face. * an active FlyerTalker, actual resident of the African Continent (I am not aware of any)
* an active FlyerTalker, actual resident of China (not HKG) * two very dear FlyerTalkers who are no longer with us on this world * an active FlyerTalker, actual resident of Poland (and a Frequent Flier of LOT and member of their ff-program): welcome to StarAlliance ... |
Only 5 is that it?
Theres so many people on the Virgin and AmEx boards that I haven't met. Did make it to the London do in January, which saw more American's present than Uk citizens, go figure! My five would have to be (in nor particular order):- -Gaza -The_Banking_Scot -Roger -influential -dnw I'd also like to see all the hundreds of people that mail me, but are 'lurkers' and ask them why they don't join in properly on FlyerTalk. Appreciative of many of the FTers that I’ve met, and having just met RichG in Toronto and knocked him off my List, it’s fun to ponder:
GHOSTS OF FT PAST JonToner for stories interweaving travel and family. I hope that our paths cross. GHOSTS OF FT PRESENT Blairvanhorn for humor and humanity Jan_az for decency to all things decent Chexfan and Village Idiot for indecency to all things indecent Doc for all things, about everything Mex1k for being one of the wonderful, and unsung, writers on this Board. I can still imagine you displacing most of the water out of your Kyoto bath. GHOSTS OF FT FUTURE Another wit and generous sole will come down the road. |
Rudi, I do believe that there are one or two South Africans knocking about here!
|
I have a feeling that we are talking ourselves into a mass gathering!
From the sound of most of you whoever happens to be looking after your flights should be in for a good time.! |
Who's going to be the first to organize their own "Newbie DObie" where all the attendees are folks you've never met, but want to?
|
Not really a do, but I've never met any of the FTers I am trying to meet on this trip. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

But I could plan a happy hour soon. * San Diego in October? I'll be there for work and could add a couple days for a FT event. * Rome in November? I'm arranging a group trip already, would love to add people to the list. * Any random city that is CO accessible... I love to set up trips. Can you tell? * All of the above and more? How about Regional/International FTer quarterly happy hours? Have a FTer representing each region/country arrange a quarterly meet and greet to welcome newbies and to keep in touch with active FTers. BTW, chexfan... I love the web site! I hope everyone is having a great day! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
