FlyerTalk in London?

Cast your minds back to late December last year, GK sent out a wayward plea for a UK gathering. What happens? One January evening the Americans crash the party, outnumbering us Brits and Scots!

So what about a re-run for June, 5/6 months down the line. Anyone interested?

The last one was actually my first FT Gathering, and it was good to meet some of my fellow FT members.

By then I should have hit my 500th post and my 2nd Anniversary on the board.

Thanks,
Richard

Just like last time, I'll be the first to say I'm in (barring conflict in date of course), name the date/time ...

I think we would be well advised to avoid peak summer season though, which may force us into a fairly late date (the January event actually came together pretty quickly as I recall, maybe two months ...).

kempis Apr 26, 2002 11:28 am

I would be intrested since I would need to visit LON anyways to complete the 55555 run.

davistev Apr 26, 2002 11:50 am

I think it would be nice to meet some fellow flyer talkers face to face over a beer. I will be in London, UK until June 23rd then I am off to Nagoya, Japan.

Make a date and I'll see if I can make it.

Same here. Kempis, what dates do you have in mind? What is your run itinerary?

I haven't been in London since early March, am not likely to have a business reason to return for quite a while, and need a fix! Dates?

Live in London - name the date and time and I'll see if I can make it ....

arkangel Apr 27, 2002 7:35 pm

OK, here's the dates in June that i'll be in London: 6/8 and 6/9. How about an FT gathering then?

ajamieson Apr 28, 2002 11:10 am

Great idea.

Either the 8th/9th or 29th/30th are clear for me.

I'm following my national team to YVR and LAX/SFO on the weekends in between http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Based on Aj's post..29th/30th of June would be best in my opinion, as a few of us europeans will be at the Chicago do in the early half of the month (and like me staying on in US for a week or so). Could also manage June 22 if that is any use, otherwise you shall just have to get drunk without me.

Canista Apr 29, 2002 1:06 pm

Count me in - June looks open for the moment, might be in Chicago for the FT do (but it's looking more and more unlikely due to work commitments), so this would be great.

Dates suggested by AJ and GK seem pretty good.

AAPlatinum Apr 30, 2002 8:19 am

I'll be in London for U.S. Memorial Day w/e in May, the w/e before the Queen's Golden Jubilee. May 26-28 would work best for me.

PremEx Apr 30, 2002 9:43 am

FYI, June 29/30 might be difficult for some U.S. FlyerTalkers, as some may be going away for the Independance Day holiday and celebrations. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Hee, hee. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

GK Apr 30, 2002 10:16 am

OK Richard - you got a response - now just go unilateral and name your preferred date - you are the one organising it !

RichardMannion Apr 30, 2002 10:21 am

Question is do we want the Americans there or not? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

If we don't I would go with Saturday 28th June!

Richard

airoli Apr 30, 2002 12:56 pm

Well, is there a better place to celebrate Independence Day then the UK? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Could not do 28th June - am visiting my GF in Montana for the first week in July.

influential May 1, 2002 5:18 am

I'd certainly like to be there. Full availability for June.

ajamieson May 1, 2002 6:36 am

28th is best for me, FWIW.

celbrian May 1, 2002 6:54 am

Ahem... 28th is actually a Friday.

As for accepting Americans, English or Martians, I'll just fake any nationality that will get me invited http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

techgirl May 1, 2002 7:00 am

There is actually a FT gathering already posted for 6/28-6/30 (mdtony's Washington DC doo).

Just thought I'd toss that out... I would be interested in the London gathering... and I hate it when we get dueling FT events going. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/frown.gif

Let's have a cheapskates do on June 29 then - for those who can't afford to fly transatlantic twice in one month.. and can get into central london by bus, train, plane or foot - regardless of nationality of course.

I guess that the impact of conflict with a do in Washington will not be so large, as it is high fare season and cheap fares ex UK are still scarce.

Can we make it the 28th ? I'm flying to Missoula, Montana (yes - a nightmare to get to from London) on the 29th ...

ScottC May 2, 2002 2:02 pm

Count me in, I am available anytime in 2002, 2003 or 2004 if I get advance notice http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

LHR/MEL/Europe FF May 3, 2002 7:40 am

I think we should leave it to Richard to set a date (he with the ideas gets to choose) and we'll see who can make it ...

Saturday 29th still looks good. ANy takers for this date?

29th looks good to me. Count me in. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Mark me as "probable" for the 28-29th. I have cousins spending a month in London through the 27th whom I'd like to see, and three potential semi-excuses for a "business" trip, only one of which has to firm up to get me on a plane. This would round out the trip nicely!

nologic May 5, 2002 1:22 pm

Anyone around May 7-9th?

nologic May 7, 2002 5:42 am

Sarah...Not sure I'll have much time...arriving late at night @10--11pm tonight (7th), and leaving ion Thursday, with a business meeting Wednesday night...probably have to ctach up next time.

You're not anymore, I just hacked your PDA and you are to come to Paris all week-ends till December 2099 http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif.

Count me as a probable, I may manage to connect through London that week-end.
